Title: Protein and projection attempts
Post by: cube on July 21, 2004, 14:52:35
My experience has been that it's not so much protein itself you want to avoid, but anything that is hard to digest and will make your stomach growl. If you read that bit in Astral Dynamics carefully you'll see that he is really saying don't eat heavy foods, and one type of heavy food is greasy meat.

For me the best thing to have the morning before and attempt is something that will stay with me a little while, isn't solid because I can feel solid food moving through me, and isn't sugary. So, I have a protein drink before an attempt if I'm hungry.

Agree with Cube's assessment.

Two Things with meat, esp red meat -
1)hard to digest, so it requires the body to commit energy to digestion that could otherwise be used for meditation.
2)Red meat tends to lower your vibration levels more so than other foods, even white meats. Don't ask me the technicalities behind this one, but I've read that from more than one author writing about meditation/energy practices.

One thing I have noticed since my own meditation routines have gone up a couple of gears, is that my desire to eat red meat has gone. I used to really love a good steak, but since I've started taking my psychic development seriously and started working with Spirit a lot more regularly, the idea of eating red meat is almost offputting to me.

Chocolate? Now that's another matter entirely! I'm quite sure that chocolate was given to us by the gods as a "divine" food![;)]

Yeah, since starting this I don't want to eat meat at all, actually.  I do eat chicken and fish sometimes since I seem to get ill if I eat too many grains and veggies.

It's funny how that works.  I wish I had a chart of "food vibrations" or something.

Many vegetable products, such as peanut butter, soy beans, and soy-heavy foods, such as the products from Bocatm and Morning-startm contain the protein necessary to live without animal products. It works for me, if that's your thing.

Thank you,

I've tried going vegetarian, if that's what you're referring to, many times, but I always seem to get sick.  However, since my desire for meat has decreased, maybe it won't be so bad this time.  I'll just eat meat if I feel like it and not eat it if I don't, and see what happens.

Hello,

Okay everyone will disagree with me but I almost need to have Red meat in my diet because I Work Out 5 days a week but at the same time I do take my Spiritual Development quite seriously.  The Red meats in my oppinion have not restricted me at all that I notice.
If it has I have not noticed it.  Plus I dont know how to explain this but I believe if a person did include Red meat in there diet along with daily exercize, would make there spiritual practices stronger, because of the challenges you would have along the way.

lol okay, this is just my oppinion because I do exercize and have to include meat in my diet also, there are soo many nutrients in meats that you do not get in fruits and veggies. . . Added to that, is meat takes more energy to digest, and lowers your vibrational levels, why wouldnt [after time] your body grow stronger, adjust to the energy needed, and eventually grow stronger.

So basicly a person who eats meats can [and will] be able to do as much as a person who does not include meat in there diet.

Hmm, that's an interesting perspective.

Maybe one problem is that most Americans (I see we're both from the USA) eat more than one serving of meat per meal and such large portions can anchor a person into their body.  Perhaps red meat in smaller amounts isn't a problem for some people.

It's the tyramine that grounds you.
You can probably google on more information about it.

A good rule is that if you're flying with the fairies start
eating red meat / other tyramine food, this will ground you
some.

Mystic Cloud, thanks for that info?  Do you know where I could find out more about the effects of tyramine?  Did you read it somewhere?

A friend told me and I remember reading it from somewhere.
I would also say that if you have a high L-tryptophan diet
you will have a higher chance at projecting.

It is a vital aminoacid(?) and the neurotransmitter Serotonin
is metabolized from that.

[;)] The more people discuss something, the more people understand different issues like my own, I do in fact eat alot of meat per day.  Meat has not effected my spiritual development once so ever, infact, I Notice a down fall in energy if I do not eat meat. I find my projection attempts Weaker if I do not eat meat.

I can say quite comfortably that I am as strong and experienced in the spiritual practice than a peer that does not eat meat at all and claims that Meat is the downfall of peoples spiritual growth lol.

And I notice right now by the responses shown after my first reply that you all are getting deeper into the kind of nutrients that are supplied in meat.  Good. . and Please, do not automatically assume such a nutrient such as 'tyramine' Keeps you grounded to your body which is Very much in fact not true at all.  I believe that people who claim that meat grounds you from spiritual practice are infact not strong enough to reach the spiritual level that some people can reach WHILE having meat in there diet......   but thats just my oppinion... think about it.....

In Astral Dynamics and elsewhere I've read that you should avoid heavy meals before energy work or projection attempt.  Specifically, protein is supposed to be bad.

Has anyone experimented with this and figured out if all protein hinders projection, or if vegetable protein sources are ok?  In other words, if I have a peanut butter sandwich or tofu, will that have the same grounding effect that meat would?
