I am at a time when things are becoming more frequent...havent got any more answers..
I first heard of Astral Projection around 10 years ago..
The book i read had certain techniques in it.. i was interested enough to practise the techniques regularly over the next few years..
I didnt achieve projection or anything like it at first.. But what i did find was a very alert mental state with a fantastic clear sharp mind while the body was asleep (or seemed to be). One night i got a very painfull vibration in my head .. pulsing hard , painfully.. I reached above to turn the light on in fear and my hand went through the switch.. even though i still felt i touched it... I kept trying to turn it on.. and the fear of the realization of what was happening was overwhelming and it awoke me absolutely terrified..
Things have happened since, i have managed to come out... but that horrendous fear encapsulates me everytime and i dive back into myself and awake myself always in a bad state..
I am not an anxious or timid person
Can any one help?

Is the fear associated with your realization that you were out, (shock turned into a conditioned reaction)-is it specific to something in particular, or is it undefined?  I can give you all kids of explanations for why (projected double causing fear-feedback, aka dweller phenomenon), subconscious interference, etc.  amygdala reaction, but I'm not sure if this will help- unless information is a form of fear-management.

I think its with the realization that im out... but not just that..
It feels like i shouldnt be out... feels like im in a very dangerous situation and that i am threatened
It is the only time i have experienced sheer panic..
i am completely relaxed in the awareness state.. takes a lot for me to get out..

I did it while i was lying on the sofa the other day with the television on..
All the characters on the TV were talking about what i was thinking..
Seemed very very real..
Then the vibrations in my head started again... became unbearable.. had to try and stop.

Shining one,

These kinds of fear reactions are very common, especially for first timers. Part of this is due to the fact that part of your mind is still shocked that all this is real after all! You have to realise that there is nothing to fear and no harm can come to you. However, you should also be aware that 'thought = action' in the astral world so if you have an attitude of fear then this will fuel fear genereated scenarios, which then generate more fear and so on.

You have to nail the fear from the start and not allow it to get on top of you.

For a start you should know that the old fears of 'not being able to get back in' are rubbish.

The fact is, it is the opposite you should be concerned about: the hard part is trying to keep out!

Also there are no demons or devils waiting to possess you or eat you etc. There are only fear projections, generated by your own internal fear which will sometimes manifest as demons, devils and anything else your mind can dream up to perpetuate the fear generatred scenarios. In such situations end the experience right away. Then try again, but try to keep your fear under control and over time you will be able to project without any of these fearful situations occuring, or feelings of foreboding etc
These sensations are all manifistations of personal fear and are quite understandable, but you will have to conquer them if you want to make any progress. Keep trying!

Yep, I agree with Gandalf.  It sounds to me like the old subconscious fear of 'this shouldn't be happening', and then it creates the feeling of fear.  Maybe affirmations could help?
