Question on OBE rocking sensation

well i wouldn't say i'm an expert, but here's my thought anyways. i think the key is to not really try to do anything about it one way or another. try to remain calm and relaxed and don't wake yourself up too much by trying to force anything. just relax into it and let it build up on its own and it should get stronger and stronger until you're out. good luck!

I'de have to agree with ash , the sensations should get stronger as you remain awake during your meditation CD or whatever you use. As long as you remain awake , you should just KNOW when you are out of your body and able to move. If the tugging sensations leave you feeling paralyzed completely , maybe you should try a few things to loosen your astral body from the physical one.

I personally , try to simply get up with my physical body but think about moving my astral body instead and come to find out , my astral body moves and my physical body just stays there. I dont know what exactly the tugging sensations are a sign of , I dont know what kind of technique yer using but it sounds like your on your way , keep it up.

Loving yourself first is the most important step you must take before you can truly love someone else.

astral dynamics is the book to read if you haven't yet.  most of your questions will be more than answered in it.  most, if not all of what the book covers is also in the treatise that you can access from the main page of this site.  what kind of techinique are you using to get out?  

i've read that your eyes don't need to be closed to enter  a trance state, but robert recommends them shut for all oobe's.

Thanks for the input!!  I don't have Astral Dynamics, I've just skimmed a few online articles about it and of course reading the posts here.  I do have Buhlman's Secret of the Soul however.

I've had so much trouble quieting my brain while meditating so I have to  use a Holosync CD to distract me from thinking too much.  It really seems to help me.  My best success has been the rocking while I am fully awake and once I awoke right as my astral body was sitting up so it zoomed right back in.  So I know it works but I was hoping to accomplish the obe while fully aware using the rocking motion.

Once I received a wonderful scalp massage during a session.  Don't know why unless my crown chakra was going wild.

By the way the hypnogogic imagary is wonderful to behold while listening to the CD.

the exit sensations i were experiencing were so severe at one point i gave it away for a month or so.  

here are some of the things i experienced

* hands being placed on top of my head (scalp massage?) - not so bad, feels wierd but ok
* pokes in the side - not bad, but can get painful
* feeling of a hand being placed in the small of my back
* various touches
* tapping on walls as i return to physical

and the one regular common sideeffect... the pulling / tugging sensation.  mine felt as though someone had gripped me around the ankles and was swinging me around violently (i dont mean harmfully or painfully, just really fast) so that it felt like a sideshow ride with your eyes shut.  these exit sensations over a period of time became longer and more intense (after the initial period when i had learned to OBE and they had subsided) until i stopped exiting altogether.  i gave it a rest and came back, and its all ok again.

nothing bad, nothing i wasnt ready for, but in the end the combination of them all turned me off it a bit. almost like i couldnt be bothered.  maybe it was a test? dunno.

personally, i don't see the problem w/ using something external to keep your mind quiter.  i've read somewhere that you shouldn't use it all of the time to help you oobe because you can become dependant on that for exiting all of the time.  i say if it helps you to get out then use it.  if you become dependant on it, and you are ok w/ it, that seems fine to me.  if you are serious about being being able to project consciously, consistently, buying astral dynamics is the way to go.  that book is the oobe bible.

Hello All!!

I've been reading your posts for about a month now and no one else to my knowledge has asked about this so I guess I'll ask.  I've been meditating to a Holosync CD for a while now and have had some serious rocking and tugging sensations.  I've been told that this is a precursor to an OBE but I can't seem to "rock myself out" of my body.  Once the left side of my head was pushed on so hard that my tooth popped!  Can anyone give me a new idea to try?  Or even a hint?

Also- I've seen that a few other people have had eye problems like I do.  Here's a thing I've tried that seems to help.  I bought a little sleep mask.  I've been using it for a while and as long as my body is relaxed it helps for when my eyes just want to open a crack.  As long as the room is dark enough I've been able to maintain a trance state with my eyes open a small crack.  I figured it couldn't hurt since you don't really need your physical eyes during an OBE.
