Is it best to try and project when your sleepy or very awake?

Sleepy, except for the moment when you have woken up.

But can you still do it when fully awake and not tired or not?

Yes, Bellend.  I've done this a couple of times.

Is it not best that you try it, as in how many different variations you want, and decide what works best for you?
They say hope begins in the dark...
But most just flail around in the blackness, searching for their destiny...
The darkness... For me... Is where I shine.

Most reports I've read indicate that the best time for a vast majority of people is early morning after a good nights sleep... or mid day.
For myself, I practice early morning upon awaking and sometimes during the day/evening.

Before bed tends to be a bad time as you're more inclined to simply fall asleep.
