Well, in a way they're the same. An Astral projection would be an out of body experience, but an out of body experience isn't necessarily the same as an Astral projection depending on how strict your definition of "Astral projection" is.

An out of body expierence is just that. An experience out of the body. An Astral projection is when you're out of body and in the Astral plane. Some people don't consider the real time zone (where you're seeing everythign physical and stuff) as part of the Astral. Most people don't see the Astral and physical as being the same, either, so they consider them two different types of out of body experience.

If you see something happening, such as your mom drinking tea while playing cards, or something, and you're not around, then ask her later if that's what she was doing during hte time you were projecting. If she says yes, then you had an out of body experience. If not, then maybe you were dreaming.

Before you ask about remote viewing and all of that stuff, I think an out of body experience to the Real Time Zone (or Etheric Plane as some refer to it), Astral Projection and remote viewing are all interconnected. They're a projection of the consciousness to somewhere, while some stays in the physical body. I think that only difference is that a Remote Viewing you're more in the physical and just kind of looking around, where as ina  full blown projection you don't pay any attention to the physical body.

I had a out of body experience about two weeks ago, but I was also fully aware of my physical body's location and everything, but only one consciousness. It had elements of both an out of body experience and a remote view.
