Comfort problem

I know that it is not easy to lie (and fall asleep) on your back, except when you feel very relaxed. A lot of people can't lie on their back for long when they go to sleep because they feel too tense/stressed, they have worries, etc... They tend to need to turn over on their side or stomach, because this makes them feel more at ease and/or more protected.

So perhaps you have things on your mind, which makes it hard for you to stay lying on your back for long in a relaxed way. But maybe this is not the case. Are there certain parts of your body which you find difficult to relax when lying on your back? I have learnt that some things you can do to become more relaxed and have your body stay totaly relaxed for a longer period of time is, to put a cushion (or something comparable) under your legs (at the hight of your knees), and also to place your arms along the side of your body.
I would think that when you look at the back of your eye-lids, you would focuss too much on one spot to be able to relax completely (with your whole body). It is often hardest (at least, that's my experience) to relax your head/face. I have no trouble relaxing the other parts of my body. I always have to pay attention (not too much ofcourse) to my face, especially my brow/forehead, because this part tenses up pretty quickly. As soon as I'm aware that I have, for example, raised my brow again, I let it relax and I immediately feel much more relaxed again. But this is, as I said, how I "deal" with it.

Good luck with this "challenge".

Take care.

Thanks for the advice I tried a cushion under my legs and it helped because I was able to bring the vibrations on for the first time in a few weeks.  I messed it up because I got freaked out when it looked like I was staring through 2 different sets of eyes at the same time.

Hi Makaveli,

I'm so glad that something of what I wrote was actually usefull to you. Thanks for letting me know!

Now you face a new challenge, namely one of getting used to seeing the world through four eyes... But hey, astral traveling and challenges go hand in hand, don't they.

Can I ask you something? How do you bring about vibrations? You said that all you have to do is look at the back of your eye-lids while relaxing. I haven't done any techniques for it for a while now, but was introduced to the "vibrational state" through a course I attended by the IICP (International Institute of Conscientiology and Projectiology) some time ago and have used this technique (together with relaxation & certain breathing exercises) to bring on vibrations. To me it's a good technique to use, but I'm always interested to know how others go about bringing on vibes, and I'm realy wondering how you are able to do this just by looking at the back of your eye-lids... Do you see certain things (forms/movement/colours)? Do you focuss on your third-eye?

If you feel like telling me a bit more about it, thanks!

Take care.

Hi Mica, good to hear from you again.

One odd thing that happens to me is seconds after laying down on my back intense sensations start and after trying projection I even get them slightly sometimes when I'm fully awake and not in bed.  To get the vibrations if I can't stay relaxed and if my mind isn't chattering too much I just sort of try to stare past the blackness that I'm seeing in the back of my eyes.  I basically just try to look past it while trying not to focus on anything in particular, if I get bored with that I'll focus on something else like breathing or I'll picture myself either getting light or heavy but it's not always necessary.

I do see a little movement and colors but it's nothing like the hypnotic imagery that I've heard others describe.  I never really try to focus on the 3rd eye but I can feel it sometimes on my forehead.  It's hard to explain but around that area especially and in other parts of my head it will kind of feel like energy trying to push out, that doesn't bother me at all though.  It seems like 90% of the time when I do fall asleep on my back the separation comes on if I can relax that long.  One problem I have with vibrations because of how intense they can be most of the time I scare myself of it the separation and purposely stop it for no good reason.

Good luck with projection.

I have trouble with bringing the vibrations on.  Can you expalin what they taught you at the institute?  I have wondered if I am one of the people who dont really feel vibrations.  Did they mention anything like that at the institute?

Hi DOA,

Because this thread was originally about another, be it related, subject, I hope you don't mind that I have placed my response to you regarding vibes and the vibrational state technique on the forum as a new, separate post.

Also, others who are not familiar with the vibrational state technique and may wish to know about it will be able to find this info. more easily than if I place it in this thread.

One thing I would like to say here, regarding not feeling vibes, is that when I started practicing this particular technique I also didn't feel vibrations for a while to begin with, but even so, the technique did have an effect on me.

DOA, can I refer you to the posting: " Vibr.State Techn. - DOA & others" for more information on this technique?

Thanks!

Take care.

DOA,

A question:

Have you also never experienced vibrations (vibes) when OOB? I have felt the vibes during most of my OBE's, but maybe this is because most of my OBE's were initiated through the dream-state. My awareness would, amongst others, highten because I would feel vibes.

Take care.

Makaveli,

Wow! I wish I was able to experience sensations that quickly/easily! But I can imagine that when the vibrations you experience get so intense this can have a frightening effect and can automatically cause you to stop the projection. That's a shame! I know someone who told me that he also experiences very intense vibes. He was a bit worried about this and also feels that this causes him to not be able to go further with the "OBE initiation process"; I will let this person know that he is not the only one.

Could it be that by focussing on the area behind your eye-lids, you do actually focuss on, and in so doing, stimulate your third-eye? This does seem very logical to me. Maybe this is also why you sometimes get a certain feeling on your forehead -a certain (energy-)pressure.
I know that there are various exercises to activate your 3rd-eye, whereby you focuss on a spot behind your eye-sockets (at the hight of the top of your ears); this is where your third-eye (pineal gland) is located. It is said that 3rd-eye activation exercises are good for experiencing/increasing lucid-dreams/OBE's. A short while ago I came across 2 quite clear and informative written pieces about the 3rd eye (& pineal gland). I found them to be real "eye-openers".

Take care Makaveli.

I'm having trouble because it's very easy for me to bring on vibrations when I'm sleeping on my back all I have to do is stare at the back of my eyelids while relaxing but the problem is I can't stay comfortable that way for long.  Lately the only way I can get comfortable is rolling over to my side but I fall asleep too fast like that and can never bring on vibrations or sensations on my side.  Any suggestions?
