No I have not, I only have experience with Lucid dreams. But I understood from the E-book (Flake's teachings about AP) that it is not totally the same.
The funny thing is...I knew I had that kind of dreams allready for a long time (I just come aware that I'm dreaming in a dream) But I never knew there was a name for it and that other people have it too!
And that's why I'm even more Interested in the Astral Projection. It may sound weird, but I feel like I have known all my life (well from a certain age) that there was more about it, and now the whole Astral thing is pulling me. I wanna know more and more and more.

People want to explore new "worlds" that many other people do not know about.
It's spiritual. Gaining an absolute knowledge about death and the afterlife brings us a peace in this world that is desired by anyone who has experienced it. Imagine what you would live for in this life if you had absolute knowledge of life after death.

Have you ever read William Buhlman? He has written several books on obe. In one of them he describes what he thinks are some reasons to explore beyond the body.

There is also the other side of the coin.
Allthough many herald it as the "new frontier" so to speak, and the New Age movement as a whole embrace the experience as the way to enlightenment, many fail to notice or choose to ignore the many problems that seem to be a biproduct of the experience. Lots of people have reported severe problems with Neg entities and as OBE becomes more and more mainstream, many are tempted to use hallucigenics to enhance or bring on the experience. It is voiced that with every new move there will be some collateral damage, but can this be minimised?. I for one would like to caution anyone to get their lives here on earth under control before attempting to go to the astral. Many talk about wanting to meet demons to fight them, going to the nether levels, and I find this to be very foolish at the least.
Maybe we have them to reflect on our lives. To expand our horizons and learn faith in a very straight forward way. It seems that things are certainly changing in the world and we are heading for a climax, maybe having OBEs will help us , or give us wisdom to realise that this life is not all there is. As a Christian I think I am having them for the simple reason that God wants to show me that I am as everyone ,human, I get sad loose my temper but also have moments of great inspiration and a vast potential, if I choose to do good, follow love, and try to sincerly learn the lessons life puts before me. At the moment this lesson is to communicate, learn from others , people that are definately not like me nor believe like me. As a last reason I think God loves me and .....I am having a lot of FUN with it.

why do it????(astral/ obe/ lucidity/ etc.)
--it is comforting to really KNOW that this physical world is such a small part of what's out there......
--communication and spending time with loved ones that are too far away physically......
--to see those places you never could afford to see, like the moon, etc.....
--messing with others who don't believe you (ie: finding things they hide and say "if you can do it, you'll be able to find this") and enjoying the looks on their face when you do find whatever they didn't think you would :)
--YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE!!!! i hated mine, now it is almost what i never thought it would be ;)

Again there's so much clearer. Always when I found information I suddenly get more on the path that goes to the answer to all my questions...my searching to an unknown goal.
But do I understand it right? Is it true, that the astral dimension is a dimension out of the psychical dimension, and that you can actually meet other people like friends....does they have to AP at the same time?
Or do I consiously connect in the unconsious mind of the persons I'm meeting...?

Astral and physical are in 2 different places, but you can be anywhere between them. Between, the laws of physics are influenced by both. If you move yourself a small distance toward astral, you can do telekinesis. When you travel to a parallel space that way, you can see the same thing you would in physical (nothing changed!), but details can be different, the space can look like its bending (rarely), and you can do telekinesis telepathy etc better.
You can meet people's spirits in astral or at their bodies. I do it while I walk by people (if i speak to them or not). I get a very small amount of info about what they're feeling.
As Nick said, AP is not just about flying around, it is a profound spiritual experience and can completely change your outlook on life.
Ive been trying to learn to AP for about 6 months now and although ive only had a couple of experiences, learning about it and trying to comprehend its meaning has really changed how I look things. In reterospect I think I was trying to prove to myself it *wasnt* possible but now I really feel as if i can see the deeper meaning in life, read between the lines so to speak.
Could it be that some people have difficulty projecting because deep down they know it could completely change their outlook if they DO succeed? After all, many people are very resistant to change.

I'm pretty a newbee, on this forum and in the whole Astral thing. I'm very interested and curious though. I read a lot about it now and I recognize a lot, like Lucid dreams, I have them regulary.
But I have a question that we can discuss. What is the reason of going tot the astral dimension? Allright you can do whatever you want, you relax, you feel great. But it is something that has benefits voor the phsysical world...and can you see it as an evelolution, or is it something u use to reach something in the other world? I read a lot of expiernces but never about the reason, the purpose of the higher dimension. I allready have troubles with determining the reason of living in this dimension
