Hello everyone,

I have studied OBE's off and on for about 3 years now and have long been a member of this site as well (although i was unable to recover my 1st account made here). Anyway, due to personal issues i have fallen in and out of the study of OBE's, but now i am completely determined to hone this discipline. I am able to achieve trance state fairly easily (mind awake/body asleep). several times i have had the classic OBE symptoms when attempting an exit technique in deep trance, but i have yet to exit my body (or yet to remember doing it). I really just need a little advice from someone who is experienced and maybe could help me in anyway. A routine attempt goes like this....I put myself in a deep trance and sometimes raise energy but most of the time do not. once i am in trance i begin to use one of two techniques point shift or rope. on a more successful attempt i will feel strange energy sensations like i am growing, my heart chakra will start racing, i will feel a pulling in my torso, i will start to hear a strange high pitched whirring sound and then at the height of all these symptoms when it feels as though i should exit..... nothing... and everything just fades away. another very strange problem is my face especially around where my eyes are begin to twitch very hard and fast and becomes very uncomfortable... the easiest explanation is that i havent relaxed my face enough but it doesnt make sense because iu spend a lot of time relaxing my whole body and it seems strange that if i wasnt relaxed that i would enter trance state and have projection symptoms... i believe my face twitching my attribute to many of the failures ive had as it has been present each time.  I have read through Astral Dynamics as well as many other OBE type books. Robert briefly mentions that he has dealt with this type of phenomenon but failed to really expand at that point what to do in this situation where a would be projector fails to fully project. This is a very frusterating situation for me as i want to project more than anything but i refuse to give up. I know this all takes time and was just wondering if anyone who has had experience with this could give me a little more advice then, "keep trying." =)... any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hi Chris

I might be able to help you.  I hope!  OK.  "A routine attempt".  Is what you say.

Stop attempting to project.  Simply lie back, relax and see what happens.  Now you say you have classic OBE symptoms (and they sure as hell sound like them to me!), but something is stopping you from actually exiting.  Personally, I would stop putting any emphasis on anything you do enabling you to exit.

In that if you don't feel you're relaxed enough you won't exit - rubbish!

In that if you haven't done enough energy work you won't exit - rubbish!

In that if you don't feel anything "strange" going on you won't exit - rubbish!

And so on and so on and so on and so on ad nauseum.

Forget all thoughts of exiting.  Go with what you're experiencing at the time and really enjoy it.  Get really into it.  I mean really into it.  When your body feels like it's expanding, get into that sensation for what it is, rather than for what it might mean.  Personally, I love that sensation.  It's so awesome on its own.

Onto the face.  There's a really easy answer to your twitching eyes problem.  Wear an eye mask - those ones they give you on flights.  I wear one.  They're great.  Even if you feel you're not tired and your eyes are "open", they won't twitch and will stay closed because of the mask.

When you are going through your relaxation technique, the face is the most difficult to relax (in my opinion).  I find the forehead, eyelids and mouth the hardest, but over time, you will come to relax them.  It's once you have learned to do it, you have to keep it up or else you forget how it's done and have to start again!  (talking from my own personal experience).  :)

Anyway, I hope I've helped in some way.

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

A note about the eye mask:  The Mindfold is a GREAT eye mask designed specifically for this kind of work.  It's kind of like having a portable cave.

Hello Everyone,

Selski- thank you so much for your response it was extremely helpful. What your saying makes complete sense. Relaxing the face is hard for me at the moment. Its strange, in the 3 years ive been learning meditation and trance states i am able to easily and quickly relax my entire body to the point of not being able to feel it but i still have trouble relaxing my face, mouth, eyes etc. I never thought of using an eye mask, i will definetely try that as i think my eyes are really the most debilitating at this point.

About the "going along for the ride" thing. usually i will attempt exit techniques and such and then stop and just enjoy the sensations but like i said thats when my face starts twitching to accompany all exit sensations and it just sort of negates them which is why they fade away i think. I think your right though, putting less emphasis on the exit techniques and more on just relaxing will probably be much more beneficial. Thanks again for your response. Ill make sure and keep you updated how things go =).
