Title: Returning for some input.
Post by: sleepysean on January 08, 2006, 19:29:23
Hello, I registered on this forum last year, when I started my interest in the OBE phenomena. Trying and trying and trying, I never got it. Many people told me that my first OBE would likely be from a Lucid Dream. It was very interesting that the VERY next day, I had my first Lucid Dream. For those of you that care, here is how it went:
Very hot summer, of course I was sleeping way more than I should have, it was approximately 10:30 am when my dad started up the lawnmower, he was just outside my window. Normally, I'm a heavy sleeper, but this noise happened while I was dozing off, and I could feel myself on my bed while I was in the middle of a dream. Then I realized " Holy cow! I just remembered, I was sleeping! This is a dream!" Seconds later, I came up with the thought of having an OBE. I had intense vibrations (first I ever experienced conciously), And felt myself rising very slowly. It was just then that I had gotten way to excited and ended up quickly ending the LD/OBE. I was soooo close. My efforts to have a successfull OBE increased exponentially. After about 3 months, I gave up.

Just recently, I have picked it up again. The closest I can get is to becoming relaxed to the point where I cannot feel my hands, and my eyes feel like they are being focused on a  point that is actually near my head. I feel spinning, in a random direction every time I try it. I can get to this point every time I try it. Any tips on how I can get past this point? Where am I in terms of having an OBE? Thanks for the input.

Do you 'fomally practice' some sort of technique every day?

Yes, I lay down on my bed with my two arms out, shaped like a 't' with my palms up, trying to focus only on my breathing. After about 5 minutes or so, my eyes seem to focus somewhere very close, and everything becomes MUCH darker, with occasional sprigs of yellow light flowing across my 'viewing screen' when this transition occurs, I can feel like something is pressing on my eyes. Normally, seconds later, I feel the spinning motion.

Maybe you need more energy to complete the projection- Doing some sort of energy stimulation exercise during the day (tai chi, qi gong) or energy body stimulation (like NEW) as part of your nightly practice will give you that extra 'push' you need.
This is just a guess given that in my own experiences excitement has never ended an OBE (but fear has.)
I hope this helped in some way.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough time or dedication for tai chi or qi gong (seems like it takes a lot of learning), but is there any way I can get information on this 'energy body stimulation'? Thanks for the input, more is welcomed.

Try some NEW- It purportedly stimulates your energy body (or else it stimulates something, I know it works for me.)
here's a link for some basic instructions:

Awesome! After only doing the demonstrations from the video on the website, I could feel the energy moving through me.

Then later, when I went into my trance, I used a few more techniques that I found on that same site, and went into a seemingly deeper trance. I felt the coldness, and 'dampening' of the sound around me. It was an amazing experience. Not only that, but my hands (the area I worked on the most with NEW), felt tingling and they were vibrating... I don't think I have gotten this far with a concious effort.
Your advice has furthered my progress significantly, I can't thank you enough.
