I've never really had any success using the rope as a relaxation method. Instead, I've used the rope as an EXIT technique.
In other words, once I found myself in the body asleep/mind awake state, I used the rope to pull myself out of the body. Like you, there is no way I can concentrate on pulling an imaginary rope for any length of time.

this might help if you dont already know but....
I used to use my whole awareness arms to climb the rope, hence having to mentally re-create all the muscles of the arms when climbing a real rope.
i was a fool.
lately ive realised that its far easier to use just your awareness hands to, and mentally re-create the muscles used in the hand when climbing one.
with me, Rope only seems to induce a very mild paralysis type feeling.
i guess i need more practise.
how about that rope technique! if anything it relaxes me far quicker than any other method i've ever tried.
If only I had the patience to keep it in my mind constantly for 10 minutes or so i would be getting somewhere, perhaps my meditation techniques will help me there.
anyone else had any success with the rope technique? any tips
from Lysear.
