I wondered that a lot as I was flying back home a few weeks ago after seeing some family. I tried to do it but got too scared about the possible results. I bet your astral body would be able to float around within the cabin of the plane, or maybe it would be sucked right out of the back and then you would just see the jet zoom off, ultimately becoming a spirit astral water skier. Who knows....

Might be a little (or a lot) off topic, but since it involves projecting from a plane, here it goes:

Preamble: I haven't been able to OBE from the hypnagogic state, nor have I had lucid dreams. However, I sometimes experience false awakenings, and from within that state I often get vibrations, which I haven't been able to stabilize yet.

Today I've transcended to F10, then to deep trance, and back, and after the session I decided to take a nap. I dreamed about being on a cargo plane (or a space shuttle - not sure), and there was nothing to do. So I decided to go to F10-12 (from within my dream, I remind you), and viola - the vibes! After several seconds they started to fade away, and I struggled to stabilize them. I almost failed, but at the last moment I see my "Energy Bar Tool", which radiated EXTREMELY bright white light - much brighter than I've ever been able to make it. I should also note that back at the time when I created it, I also gave it a little "personality", and then later let it go wherever it wants. So now, at the most critical moment, it comes back to me, and the vibrations magnified ten-fold - it was quite painful. I ask my EBT - "where have you been?". It says "charging - can't you see how bright I am? Now I have to go" - and it disappeared. Having the vibes flowing, I tried to get out, being cautious not to get blown off the plane, but only partially succeded before the vibes stopped again, after which I fell asleep (from within my sleep).

To this point, I've experienced the vibes 7 or 8 times, either from false awakenings, or hypnopompic stages, but never been able to proceed further, since every time I move my concentration away from the vibes, they start to disappear.

Tips, anyone?

well Alt0 the vibes are not really what you are after but just a precurser to the event, I think if you keep trying you will have more of theese experiences and they will lead to full blown obe's. I have been able to get into the vibe state but somehow the attention on them keeps me from going all the way to the projection stage. I was able to have projections by going to sleep first then awakening while it was happening which somehow fools the part of the brain that just won't let go. There have been a few posts in the past about projecting from lucid dreams that may be of interest to you.
In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

Ok well... If anyone is flying anywhere anytime soon or..not so soon... Just keep this in mind :D  I seriously wanna know what would happen...  It sounds like fun :)

To be honest, I don't think that there would be much difference to OBEing in your bed. What you fail to realise is that the Earth itself is rotating and moving at 1180 kilometres/hr!!! Being stationary depends on what you are using as a reference. In a plane, your OBE would probably automatically keep up with your body in the airplane.

I have often pondered this interesting question myself, but it is too uncomfortable in economy class to attempt an OBE.
Success - It is not the position you stand, but the direction you look

I understand that the earth moves fast...and it has to. To get its huge mass all the way around in 23 hours,59 minutes, and 57 seconds? Quite a feat!

It wasn't so much the actual plane's speed that was in question, but the height above sea level.  Average flight distance from sea level is 30,000 feet.

OK so on my 7 hour plane ride to Alaska... I thought... Wow. Nobody's posted about this.. I wonder if anyone's done it!  That is to say, Astral Project from an airplane.  30,000 feet above the ground? Sure! Why not?

Hehe, post anything you'd like about it :p
