I have never heard of anyone reporting on separating through the soles of their feet.
I decided to try it this weekend. I was successful at separting through the soles of the feet in the last three OBE's. It was an amazing feeling.
It was actually easier for me to separate this way. It feels like when you are sitting in a recliner with your feet outstretched and touching the floor and your soul slipping through the feet and sliding onto the floor. I have no idea if this is a safe way to separate, since normal sleep has a separation through the top of the head. But, I do know it was an amazing feeling.
Don't you know!? That's why they are called the soles of your feet :-P

I have found the following links which pertain to the Earth Star chakra. This may explain how I am able to separate through the soles of my feet. The first link is a diagram of the chakra (look for it at the bottom of the diagram). And the second link is a description of the chakra.

They said the chakra is used for the grounding of the soul. Without this grounding you may become ungrounded in the physical life, resort to drugs, and lose interest in the physical life. This seems interesting as it may explain why many new age practitioners become psychologically ungrounded, since they are taught to focus on the higher chakras like the third eye and the crown chakras. This is just a theory which may or may not be correct.
I am interested in others opinions on this topic.
Each time I have separated through the soles of my feet, I have been projected into the real time zone with no loss of awareness and no blackout. On the contrary, when I separate through the head, I sometimes lose awareness, and I may have a momentary blackout.
