Okay, I'm not that kid that tries astral projection for five days and gets all upset when it doesn't work immediately. I have been trying astral projection for over one year now and I have little to no luck. The closest I can come is a very, very, rare lucid dream (which i also have trouble doing). It bothers me that some people do not put forth any effort and they can master either or both of these two abilities just by simply going to sleep, when I have been taking the necessary steps for about 13 months now. I have tried keeping a dream log and just about every technique in the book. I even tried the one where you try for about a month than after that just sort of "forget" and let your subconscious work it out but not even that has worked for me. My most recent attempt was yesterday it was 4am and i laid on my back completely still and did not move for about two whole hours. 6am rolls around and not only have I not successfully projected I haven't even fallen asleep. Can anyone please help, maybe tell me what I might be doing wrong. All answers and input is welcome and appreciated please and thank you.

p.s. could it have anything to do with me being an indigo child, if anything I believe that should make it easier?

Astral Projecting can take a very very long time to even experience.
You do have lucid dreams tho which is an astral projection in some way, you begin to understand that you can actually have control in your dreams!
I'd say keep practicing in your lucid dreams and when you feel completely calm and in complete balance with yourself go to sleep, wake up when you feel well rested but stay in your bed and attempt the techniques you've learn.
It doesn't always work you just gotta keep trying once in a while.
Eventually you'll go to bed, and you open your eyes and you're there on next to your physical body and you don't know what's really going on.
Can take more than years to do a full projection where you're actually conscious of everything.
My first projection took me at least 5 years of lucid dreams. It's different for everyone.
Gotta let go all fears, have no expectations what so ever.
When you feel the vibrations or feel like you're moving (or getting moved by something), let it carry you away.
Can't let any thoughts get in your way in that moment tho.
Good Luck!

Some people never even do it.
I'd keep practicing, lucid dreams for me took a long time too but once I got the hang of it, I can do it almost every nights.
And if you can do lucid dreams it can be a great gateway to do an astral projection.
You're at the very beginning of your experience, give yourself some time.
Even Jimi Hendrix had to practice before he mastered his guitar skills.

How do your perform Astral Projection?

IndigoSoul

I have tried just about every technique there is. Generally I will try the WBTS method after a nap or in the morning when I wake up.

Make sure to try before your body has had the full amount of sleep it needs. (or wants)  If you've had your full amount of sleep it most likely won't work.  Same with your nap.  If you take your usual length of nap, wake up and try, it'll probably be too late.  Your body will not want to fall back 'asleep' for the needed mind awake, body asleep state.  I would suggest that if you normally sleep 8 hrs, then make an attempt after 6 hrs. sleep.  :)

AAAAAAAA

I highly doubt it has anything to do with being an indigo child. Being one shouldn't necessarily make it easier, either. Even though you were born with gifts, learning things and living life won't just be a walk in the park.

Bluefirephoenix

Go deeper within. MUCH deeper. It takes awhile to get there. You absolutely focus within until your body feels like a wooden puppet. You the injection to get mouth numb the dentist gives you the lidocaine?  thats what your body feels like.  You keep going within til you get someone to help you or you see your way through.
You'll know it when your there. If nothing happens your not there yet.

Work it twice a day. Don't time it.  go a little further each day.

You just haven't reached the point yet. Your expereince will not be found in a book. You may feel first before you hear and see. The order of sensory awakening differs.  Look through Frank Kepples stuff. Heck ask him for help he's still hanging out from the other side.

It means you are not relaxed enough.   It happens to me.   I can be lying there and nothing happens.   You could listen to something that is relaxing.   That can make a big difference.

That is also true, the amount of relaxation before an AP happens must be GIGANTIC!
The toughest part of my body to relax to me is always my face before I start getting astral movements.
Usually it will start very slowly for me I always feel like I'm balancing myself sideways and horizontally, some people they will feel like as if they're spinning on an axis.
When I began AP'ing I was feeling as if I was spinning on an axis on my feet and an horizontal rotation (my head would move in a circle around feet).
Then it starts going faster and if you spin fast enough you'll feel as if you're body is emitting light (may be different for some people [like the rope technique])
It really depends how you do it and how you feel comfortable doing it but once you let go it's crazy the effect it does.

My first AP, I really knew I succeeded and opened my eyes, colors were super clear it felt very weird cause I was seeing things differently in my room, so I started observing what was around me, saw that my body was there. I just kept going I went through my window and I told myself I wanted to see the astral planes.
Ended in a big room with like 20 or so people. I was new to this so I didn't talk much but I know someone was nice enough to calm me and gave me something to drink (Like a Slush or something)
I think they were playing a video game on a projector or something (the room was kinda like a stadium with 30-40 places) Big stairs kinda seats so I sat down a few.
I was really new to that so I kinda got overboard and asked shitload of questions got all the answers I wanted but I had to go so my guide told me to go through the corridor
He started yelling at me: -Now you gotta RUN through the door or you're not gonna make it!
The time slowed down so much while I was running I was starting to sweat and I had a fear as if I was running against an entity that would take my body.
I ran as fast as I could, I arrived to the door I had to give a kick in it, and that's it.
I didn't even open my eyes when I woke up, they were already opened.
You can imagine how I was freaking out, I sat down on my bed immediately and had to do multiple reality checks.
My eyes felt super dry and I was watching my room making sure it was exactly like it was before.
I was smiling and was super excited because I knew I did it.

Relaxation is key for attempting AP. All muscles must be relaxed, you gotta TRICK your mind into thinking you're going asleep.
After that it's just focusing on emptiness. And letting go.
If I say you gotta let go by that I mean, you gotta let what's gonna happen, happen.
Good Luck

Getting my body to relax is not a problem at all but getting my mind to settle down a but can be very tough. My head usually bounces between thoughts and ideas at a very fast pace is there anything you would suggest? Also, i have heard that listening to music while attempting AP will make it more difficult. Did you mean listen to it the whole time? Generally i will put on some relaxing music and listen to it for about 45 minutes and really get loosened up before an attempt.

Then try to find a visual of some sort that you can focus solely on. It could be a shape, an activity, anything really.

I use to start by focusing on a "spinning top (child's toy)". The spinning top sooner of later begins to morph. I have seen it morph into figure skaters, a Sombrero, a balloon and then it floated upwards. All kinds of unique things. Nowadays I focus purely "tactile" related techniques, like this: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_consciousness/cloud_9_and_beyond-t44871.0.html

...and sure it's hard to hold that visual for a long time. But it does get better with practice and I don't mean practice over a couple of days or a week. I mean the kind of practice that becomes a part of your daily routine.

Here's a great video to increase your focus on one object: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sxvb9pgkrvI

You will find that the longer you can hold onto your chosen visual, the deeper your NP (Non Physical) focus will be. Just don't keep looking back to see how deep you are. That is an error that makes it so you have begin all over again. Just go with the flow!

Kzaal

Gotta let go of those thoughts they will only stop the progress. Like Lionheart said you need to focus on something, forms are very good.
Anything that can make your mind go blank.
I can do it just by focusing on my breathing, as long as you don't let your mind wander.
The mind is really annoying sometimes: "Will I make it? How long do I still have to wait? Will I die? What is gonna happen when I get there?"
All those questions will really push you back from AP.
Like I said earlier. Let go.
Even the smallest question will immediately stop the progress.
If you want, ask your questions first before going to bed. But not while in progress.
A good way to do it also can be just to close your eyes and look at the point almost a little lower than the middle of your nose.
Focus on that point and nothing else. Don't think about it just keep watching it until you can't feel your body, breathing or anything.
It's hard to keep an empty mind. Meditation is good for that too.

Good Luck!
