I seem to be waking up 3 times a week or so during sleep paralysis, every time I feel very strong vibrations and can "leave" my body with little effort. I have been fighting this though, I love having an OBE but I fear it just as much. When I eventually get myself out of sleep paralysis I have to stay up for about 30 minutes or my body will literally fall back into it within seconds of lying back down. Last night was the worst, I felt like I was being forced out of my body. I felt so drained fighting it so I gave in and its like I wasn't in control and was being forced up stairs and I started fighting it even more to get back. Lately I feel like something or someone is making me leave my body, for what reason I don't know.

Is there any way to reduce having sleep paralysis because over all its just draining and I have restless nights because of this? Also why is it I was being forced upstairs, like I wasnt in control?

Hi Chris, everyone who sleeps has sleep paralysis, its just that your mind is awake while your body is still asleep. It seems there is some control happening to some degree in the astral, why and who I don't know. it is usually benign. Maybe you can remember to speak out and command 'I don't want to go upstairs!' or "Leave me alone!"
Otherwise I wish I could have sleep paralysis more often and go OOB!
All the best results to your problem,
Cheers djed :-)

waking up in sleep paralysis is actually somewhat of a medical disorder.

i know it's semantics for some of you, but it really isn't.

the state that most of you call sleep paralysis is something else.  it's something that you intentionally move into and it is just a disassociation from your body.

real sleep paralysis shouldn't happen.  your body paralyzes itself in REM sleep so that you don't injure yourself by acting out a dream.  it's called sleep atonia.  you SHOULD NOT be waking up during this period unless you are awoken by an external cause (a loud noise or something).  short of that, anything else that causes you to wake in sleep paralysis is interrupting your REM sleep for an unknown reason.  so, while waking up in sleep paralysis isn't really a "disease", there is something abnormal causing you to wake and it could be a problem.  I'm not saying that you should over react or anything, but it might be worth consideration (like maybe you have sleep apnea and you are waking in paralysis because you stop breathing).  again, i'm not saying that there is any serious problem, but you really shouldn't be waking up in paralysis normally, let alone multiple times in a week.  you could try a natural sleep aid, like valerian root or kava kava tea/capsule.  these may help ensure that you sleep through the night without waking in REM sleep.
be awesome.

I used to have the same sp problems as you. I link it to the insomnia I had and my messed up sleeping pattern at the time.

If you have a messed up sleeping pattern sort it out. Get up early at the exact same time every day and go to bed at the exact same time every night, early enough to get a good nights sleep.

I reckon (in my case anyway) that it might come from a from having had a bio-rhythm that was out of whack. Like the irregular sleeping pattern was making my brain produce the wrong chemicals at the wrong times.

You could also try affirmations before you go to bed at night. A couple of minutes of deep slow breathing while mentally repeating, "deep undisturbed sleep".

Agree 100% with Blis

To reduce SP go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning.

But if I was you I would make the most of your easy exit, a lot of people would love to achieve seperation so easily

I use to have the "technical" sleep paralysis where I would become aware while being suffocated/smothered in my pillow under my own weight. I literally thought I was going to die many times. In these instances I couldn't have sparked an OBE if I tried, you just had to wait it out. I don't think this is your problem.

In my opinion you are falling asleep into the 3D Blackness. I had this problem during childhood. The difference between this and the typical projection friendly-paralysis is that it's much easier to shoot out somewhere without a need to focus or work yourself OOB. The other side of the coin is that when you don't want it, it forces you out anyway. I grew out of this a long long time ago so I couldn't tell you a remedy. Perhaps you should try getting over your fears and taking advantage of this gift?

I agree with PersonalReality's very informative post.

Thanks for the quick answers!

It's ironic, personalreality, that you bring up sleep apnea because 2 nights ago I brought it up to my family that I believe I might be suffering from a small case of it. I often times wake up gasping for air and if I take too big of a gulp of air I start coughing (I'm also not a smoker). I also have a horrible sleeping pattern, I don't have any real schedule other then waking up at the same time every morning to go to work. I go to bed anywhere from 11pm to 4am, just depending on what I'm feeling that night.

I have different sorts of fears when it comes to leaving my body, I have done it countless times and id say most of those I run into someone while out. I've only felt threatened once but it didn't last very long, I just wish when I left I wouldn't have anyone bothering me. I know growing up I would see many spirits that would bother me in reality and dreams. Maybe they are just attracted to me in some way, possibly because I'm mentally telling myself I'm going to see them when I leave my body and that may be the reason why?

Mindfulness

I can enter sleep paralysis every single night if I want to.  When it happens and I break out of it, if I attempt to go back to sleep anytime soon, it happens repeatedly.  I wake up every night at like 2am to pee and when I return to sleep all I have to do is lay down on my back and attempt to phase.  What happens is I literally watch my body fall asleep while my mind stays awake.  Unfortunately, every time I have it happen I freak out and never roll out of my body.   :-(

I know what your sayn, ive been there.
Quite simple though, what I do to avoid it is- Stand up crack my back and stretch out for a minute or 2. -that should do it, but if ya wanna go the extra step when ya lay back down lay on your side.. 99% of all the times I got unwanted vibrations came with me layn on my back. So yeah, dont lay on your back but youl probably be good anyway.
