Title: sleep paralysis - requirement?
Post by: ralphm on January 30, 2003, 13:48:43
I think you have hit upon the wall encountered by many people who try to conciously project. I have hovered at the edge of projection for quite a while a few times, only being able to after falling asleep. however I think when I experience vibrations while asleep I focus on getting the hell out and only feel my body if it has a problem-asleep arm or pain somewhere.
The recommendation is to focus and follow the hypnogogics and stop putting attention on the body.
One way to get around the energy is to wake after a few hours of sleep and then try to project. My method is to just go back to bed, other people actually try to stay awake 30 minutes or so.

It's all about awareness . . . so rather thinking about inducing sleep paralysis; i.e., making it happen, try instead to stay awake for the show!.  Sleep paralysis happens to us all naturally; it's a byproduct of REM sleep. In other words, it's what keeps us from punching people out or walking into walls while we are dreaming!

One more time: the trick is to remain aware while your body goes into "sleep" mode.  Your body is more likely to fall "asleep" when you are not paying attention to it.  Aware/unaware, asleep/awake it's quite a balancing act if you can pull it off . . . it definitely takes practice and a sort of "zen" approach.

Practice, practice practice folks . . .

I've been wondering if this is what you need to obtain before you can leave your body. I have been very successful with relaxation and hypnagogic imagery, but something doesn't work.
If sleep paralysis = body is asleep, then wouldn't it be very hard to enter it if your body has lot of energy??

And finally, if you have certain methods of enterin SParalysis, please share!!
