Sounds like you had an obe experience. Many people have experienced beings while out. I don't neccesarily belieive in religions, but know that there is something beyond the physical and take delight in exploring it. A good thing to read here on this site is a article with the title "the catch basket concept"

In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

although I've had a few major projections, i have experienced the buzzing EVERY time something significant has happened.

it's how i know that something big is happening -the buzzing itself was something i was aware of before i even knew what an OBE was! I actually used to think it was a monster under my pillow, when I was a little boy!

It begins for me like a tickling in my ears that increases until it reaches an unbearably scary roaring noise which, after peaking, becomes a POP! and i'm somewhere cool.

I can feel the energy sparking all over my body, and as I focus my concentration, it sound like a light saber swishing around, feels like powerful static engulfing my body.

It USUALLY scares three shades of s*** out of me and I panic, but when it's happened during the day and I'm not paranoid, i've had the pleasure of three short-lived explorations of the astral plane.

In conclusion, see the buzzing as chakra opening, the separation of the astral and physical, or the reaching of a deep trance state, whatever.

But understand that it is indicative that SOMETHING very important is going on out there, and all this stuff isnt a load of mumbo-jumbo! Even a novice like me can tell that.

And it certainly isn't a monster under your pillow!

Hey there wmundstock,

Just wanted to reassure you that all those symptoms are completely normal for projectors.  However, usually the more experienced one becomes at having these, the less uncomfortable they feel.

The ringing/buzzing sensations usually accompany the person while they are on the verge of projection.  While I personally don't acknowledge these sensations when I separate, I have in the past, and I can tell you that they go away once you get out of your body.

You asked if this was just a drug induced sensation?  It sounds to me that it was an OBE, probably brought about because of the drugs.  Many people have used mind altering drugs to try and achieve the OBE state, mainly because they think it's a shortcut.  However, I highly recommend NOT taking this approach.  When a person is OBE, having a calm, controlled mind is super important.  Usually drugs are counterproductive, and the last thing you want to do is start tripping out in the astral realm!

It's also common to feel someone else near you when you're OBE.  It could be that you're sensing your physical body nearby.  Or you could be picking up on some guides or other astral entities.  I've found that if you project with a little paranoia, then that paranoia will be AMPLIFIED when you're out, and you'll think bad things are after you.  Remember that....however your minset is when you project, your emotions can (and usually are) amplified in the astral.  This is why it's important not to be scared or frightened.

I hope you have more to share with us in the future!

The reason I was looking into this at all is because about 5 years ago I was having severe panic attacks.  I was put on a medication called xanax.  During certain times of sleep, I would become awakened in my mind by the sound of a ringing/ buzzing sound which seemed to be coming from the back part of my head.  This would cause a feeling that mt head was stuck to the pillow by a magnet.   On one occassion This sound and feeling built up to a point and then I felt a POP!  All I can say is after that POP I felt better that I have ever felt in my life.  I couldnt see anything but I could feel HAPPINESS and JOY.  It seemed as if there were someone there with me because I remebered asking "WOW,  what did you do?"  Because it felt as if when I popped it was the best back cracking I could ever get, it just released all worry and pain and fear and............  .    I then jolted back into conciousness and was wide awake.  I was very scared.   I then went to a book store a day later and I just happened to walk by a book that was on display called Embraced by the light.  I opened the book and read word for word on that page what I had just experienced the day before.
You would think that I would be greatly relived to know that (if that is what is like to die) things arent to be afraid of.  But for some reason I still have doubt.  I struggle greatly with organized religion but do consider myself a doubtful believer, if there is such a thing.  Please if you have any insight let me know.   Could this have just been a drug induced sensation?  Was I really out of my body?  Has anyone else ever felt that there was someone there with them when they had OBE?
