Title: So Who Can OBE When Taking a Nap?
Post by: blade5x on May 25, 2006, 16:07:19
I can have OBEs in the morning... but I also would like to have them when taking short naps as well.

I tried to OBE today while taking a nap for an hour, and I don't know, I just don't really know what I'm doing.

I get to the point where I'm seeing colors moving around everywhere, and today I even reached a point where I was feeling "shivers" throughout my body, I felt two of them to be exact (they are not the vibrations I feel during SP). It seems that the furthest I can get on my own. At one point my mind also went off on its own, began creating random images, and I went deeper into sleep, but the moment I become conscious of that, it brought me right back up to the stage where I was just seeing colors, and feeling the occasional shiver, which is probably the furthest I've gotten in the middle of the day.

It also seems that when attempting to get beyond the stage of seeing colors (the name of has slipped my mind, started with H), my eyes seems to tense up, and that kind of start a chain reaction and other muscles in my body begin to become tense as well. Then when I relax my eyes it's almost like I get brought up way out of the trance, only to be brought back seconds later to the stage where I'm seeing colors.

I'm stuck.

Anyone who can have OBEs at will during daily short naps, any tips?

Hi blade

I've been having OBEs when napping for ages.  I'm partial to napping in the afternoon, when I get the chance.

This might be part of the success rate.  I'm used to napping, therefore my body/mind knows when I settle down in the afternoon, it can relax fully.  If you've only just started out, it may take some time for your body/mind to know what's going on.

Over the years, I have found that after about 1 hour to 1.5 hours of sleep (my naps are long!), my mind wakes up just before my body.  This is when I am able to mentally relax into the correct "state" and then separate.

So for me, I get my sleep first and then have an OBE.  That's normally how it works with the night time sleep too - most of my OBEs are early morning - after a full night's rest.

I don't seem to do all the trance/vibrations/colours stuff.  I just mentally wake up before my body.  How do I do it?  I've no idea.  If I knew, I'd tell you!

It's that you're trying to relax the muscles. They relax naturally as we fall asleep. Have you ever been sitting in a position for a long time and your leg falls asleep? The body does the same when it's like that. Another problem is that there are certain mental anomalies which cut off one's consciousness before conscious sleep can be experienced.

What will help to reduce the mental activity caused by the anomalies (which are responsible for the images and other hypno-illusions) is to say a mantra:

I've heard from alot of people that midday naps can really do the trick!

I'm a big fan of naps but have had only a couple of OBE during one.

One time I was on a bus full of people going back home and I was that tired I managed to have OBE with dozens of people within metres of me with music blasting in my ears!

As long as you are relaxed enough during the day, A nap could be just the thing for you to project

I'm not sure that it would count, but I was taking a nap on a couch.  I was sitting down with my arms folded across the arm rest and my head in my arms, so that my arms were right where my eyes were.  I was almost asleep but was jerked back to reality when I could clearly see the floor of the room.  It couldn't have been clearer if I had sat up and opened my eyes, which I did to check to see if it was for real.
