Title: Some answers please
Post by: Nicotine_queen on November 09, 2007, 15:53:01
I have been studying astral projection for a few years now, but only recently I have had a few very brief experiences.
one to day was that I was feeling the vibrations and could see through closed eyelids but a strange thing happened I think I saw my astral hand it was transparent... Is that normal?
I have a different technique too, I just goto sleep and remind myself to wake up, I generally do at the vibration stage.
I also have a huge fear of going out of my physical body, I don't want this fear but i think it is religious based (due to the fact of a christian upbringing)
I do understand that this is a lot to ask, but I am very nervous of fully leaving... I just want my mind put at ease by someone that will listen, I will achieve it fully... I just need a bit of advise and info on meeting people in the astral, because that is a large fear also...
Thanks in advance

Your astral self can appear in many different ways, and the fact that you saw your hand transparently doesn't mean anything bad or out of the ordinary. As for your fear of leaving your body, this can of course be a rather inhibiting factor. The only thing you can do about your fear is understand that no harm can come to you, and come to terms with your fear and face it.

When you leave your body, your consciousness 'reflects' itself into another dimension. Your hands that you are seeing are just really just your subconscious mind projecting the image because it expects them to be there, when in reality, they're not.

I remember the fear well. After a few experiences and you've proven to yourself you can do it the fear will vanish and will be replaced with excitement and curiosity. Keep practicing!

I remember the first couple of times I left my body my hands were very ghostly looking.  Generally once I got out they would be somewhat normal again.

As far as fear it's just something you have to kind of fight.  I had a couple of ways to help me fight it.  First I would always pray before and after I exited my body.  And second before I went to sleep I'd protect my house by imagining light coming from God, entering my body, then spreading to my house and creating kind of a force field around it.  After a while I stopped doing that but it comforted me at first.

Another thing I did was I would try to tame my fear when I had lucid dreams.  I would summon my "fear" and try to work with it.  For instance once after I asked for my fear to show itself a German Shepard appeared but it was really pale.  So I started running around with it and telling it to get stronger and get courage and it started to go to it's normal color and oddly enough I had less fear after that.

A german shepard? That's interesting. Out of all the different things your fear could have manifested itself, I wonder why it picked a cute lil doggy? lol, that's cool though.

As for the fear, I can totally relate. About 2 weeks ago I was right about to have my first succesful out of body experience, I was on the brink of prejecting, and then I just got terrified. Completely ruined it, the exit symptoms stopped and everything. That was the closest I've ever been, too.

::sigh::

hi, i can totally relate to having fear, and it's not easy to overcome, just remember that nothing can happen to you while OBE, and you always have the option of retreating back to your body..  infact it's harder to stay out *lol*

Well, that's the thing for me. I'm not afraid of having an OBE, in fact, I want to quite badly. But then whenver I get right on the brink, I freak out. Oh, wait. I'm hijacking this guys post. lol, sorry.
