I was really into astral projection about 2 years ago, but it never actually happened for me. Recently, i have been trying on and off again, and today im experiencing what seems to be progress, but im still unsure. My understanding is that to achieve the split, you have to be on the brink of sleep. I was feeling sensations while being fully aware of everything. I figured this was wrong because i wasnt even close to sleep. The sensations were vibrations in certain parts of my body, and where these occurred, heaviness also occured. Also, i was feeling a slight nausea. Even right now, maybe 5 minutes after trying, im still feeling the effects. I feel light, and somewhat shaky.

So i guess my question is do i have to be closer to sleep to astral project? Am i supposed to be fully aware of everything or does it have to be to the point of where im in such a trance state that i basically forget im trying to astral project...or anywhere in between?

The Present Moment

Being on the brink of sleep can help, but it isn't necessary. You want to stay aware enough that sleep, or a dream state, doesn't overtake you.
