My advice to you would be read up on it as much as possible. And you have to be diligent.
The best FREE information I can point you towards is called "Treatise on Astral Projection" by Robert Bruce. Its an ebook and can be found on the internet. Its basically his documentation of OBEs, as he learned more about it himself, over a period of 5 years. Bruce actually was using the wrong terminology, confusing APing with OBEs, and he is known for that, lol. But later in his treatise he learns the difference and starts using proper terminology.
Not everything in the book is perfect, but its a very educational guide for someone who has little to no experience and limited knowledge of OBEs. There are many things to learn about OBEs, and many ways to accomplish them (its different for everybody), but several of the mainstream techniques can be found here.

check out www.MindSync.vze.com (http://www.mindsync.vze.com)
go to products, then MindSync Preset Library and click OOBE presets
try downloading some presets from there - i reccomend the one called "Astral Projection"
