Hi,
At 17 years old I had my first sleep paralysis episode, I had around 1 per week. I am never lucid when SP happens, each time I can"t recall having experience something similar and I'm quite sure that something is here to get me.
When it stops I need a couple of minutes to stop shivering and remember "Right, sleep paralysis"
At 22 in addition to the "oh my god i'm gonna die" state of mind auditory hallucination came.
At 23 visual hallucination : shadow people, ghost, weird non existing animals
At 24 sometimes I would be lucid during those SP (yes, up until now each time it happened I was not lucid, unable to recall what is a SP)
Now I'm 25 and 2 month ago the most peculiar thing happend, I was in SP and I tried to move, I saw my tegs going out of my body,
So i tried to get out the rest, and I did.
I was propelled 1 meter above my body, I couldn't move, but it felt liberating.
I kept floating around 30 second before being sucked back into my body.
As it continued to happen I am now able to move around, etc.
For now, I don't really believe that I'm goint out of my body because each time I go out of my room (by going through the wall) I end up in weird places.
It looks like a lucid dream beginning with a false awakening.
Anyway back to the problem :
Sometime I can"t "separate".
As I tryto I can feel vibration, and if separation fail the vibration start to get very intense, I can feel pain left to my stomack and my heart beat becomes very loud and can be felt on my whole body (it does not accelerate)
If I stop my attemp to separate then it goes back to normal.
Anyone experiencing something similar?
ps : what's the difference betwen astral travel and an OBE?
Astral Projection and OOBE are the same thing. The term astral just has some belief system behind it. People like me, who do have any particular belief systems just usually say OOBE
You should go through this thread to read the difference between AP and OBE : http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/what_is_the_difference_between_astral_projection_and_obe-t30758.0.html

That thread gives a really good definition for people who insist on applying a difference. But that difference is only there by choice IMO. :-)
Are you completely relaxed? Not tensing up? Not quite sure where pain would come in to play. Are you afraid? Sometimes fear can do strange things and create strange sensations.
Sometimes vibrations can be so intense you can understand it as pain. I think you're just feeling vibrations still, you should wait for the vibrations to pass (don't move around, it will increase the pain)
I think you're just trying to force yourself out of body to soon
I'm not afraid when I'm lucid.
Basicaly if my room is too dark I'm having visual hallucination about ghost, etc.
And when this happens I'm usualy not lucid (meaning I don't know what is hapening).

If I stop trying to separate they go away.
But as soon as I try again they come back.
this does not always happen though, sometimes I have no trouble at all to separate.
Just passively observe EVERYTHING that occurs with an air of curiosity. I have different sensations all the time. But, I log them in my Journal, so I can go back to them for comparisons.
Just learn to SURRENDER TO and ALLOW what happens to happen.
You will find that sometimes you just stay in the 3D dark zone/depth area. Sometimes it may be black, other times it could be color swirls or just plain grey or white.
Sometimes you lie down to Phase/Project and immediately you are bombarded by very vivid hypnogogic imagery, other times you may just need a peaceful timeout.
Just "GO WITH THE FLOW"! :-)
If it begins to physically hurt you, just stop. No harm, no foul, the time was likely not right for you! :-)

Except you need to be able to think straigh to have this kind of behavior.
I have no problem doing that when I'm lucid.
Except for the pain, pain hurt :-D it's tough

Hi,
I just attended Bruce Moen's workshop over the weekend and he was saying how, according to his experiences, one usually experiences non-physical pain when there is some kind of resistance in the flow of the non-physical energy that is flowing through your body (I'm sure I could've worded that better but whatever). This explanation holds true to my experiences as well. I would recommended being mentally and physically relaxed and just letting the energy flow and the vibrations wash over you. Non-physical pains can occur even with physical tension or a blockage of physical and non-physical energy. You simply will not be able to separate and have a conscious exit (traditional oobe) if there is any kind of physical tension, so like the others were saying, don't try to force it.
I know all about non-physical pain...
If it's non-physical though, I believe the pain may indeed be due to energy blockages, as mentioned above. I've talked about having non-physical pain during SP.

hahah this made me laugh, so true.
You lucky thing, some of us can't eat spicy foods or lots of other nice things. The temptation is there but the side effects are really nasty.
JEALOUS.
I didn't say anything about side effects not being there... ;)
