The video to the song "Whip it" by Devo has to be one of the
strangest things ever....

yeah I have had those...according a friend of mine it is a psycic impression.

It can induce certain feelings which you had during trance. You should go and turn inwards and research it. See what exactly thrives the song to pop up in yer head all the time.

Manfred

When I let my mind wonder, it pops up into my head... Last night I think I successfullly stopped it by clearing my mind completely while falling asleep.

Howdy

Robert talks about this somewhere in AD or PPSD. One of his suggestions is to try Core Image Removal on it (treat it like a neg). Use it as a test for greater mental control!

I find that happens a lot when I meditate.  I will just be laying there and then kinda all of a sudden my mind is off in its own little world singing away and then I have trouble refocusing.  Often I just say what ever and let the song continue and or repeat.  What I find real interesting is the repeating of songs that I was unaware that I knew the lyrics to.

I find a mantra that resonates loudly in your mind will quickly get rid of that nasty ever looping song effect.....I dunno.....I guess saying 'monkey' 50 billion times would work just as well, haha

I developed a theory awhile back on this phenomenon, call the thought delay processor (snazzy technodribble name.) In short, I think it's a function of the short term memory that goes a little bit overboard. Normally, it's supposed to remind the short term memory of something in intervals. When a song gets stuck in your head (this seems to happen most often with complex, creative information) this function decreases the time between intervals and amplifies the repeats.

Using this theory as a model, I find the offending thread and sever it, effectively stopping the repeats. Sometimes it takes a couple tries.

These kinds of ideas are called Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Look it up if you wish.

Good ideas,exspecialy the mantra one.

I'll have to check out the site later!

BTW is it me or does anyone else here notice that these songs that get stuck on instant replay are always songs that you cant stand. In real life upon hearing the songs that often get stuck in my head I feel to

smash the radio into tiny peices. What gives?

Peace,Andy

Has anyone here had songs stuck in their head after inducing a trance? After I listened to the song 'whip it', I induced a trance and the next day the song whip it was stuck in my head. Is this normal?
