Delirium may cause encountering with the lower astral plane. Anyhow, drinking is no good for your spiritual life, and it shouldn't be used as means for astral traveling.

Note that the whole "going to lower planes" or "encountering lower entities" as a result of drinking alcohol is not a fact...

The problem is people who use substances to reach an out of body state often suffer from many problems. When they make it to the "other side," all these problems materialize.

So the answer to the original poster is, yes, it is possible.

BUT, enormous BUT!

If you use the lightheaded state of being that alcohol provides as a springboard for projection, you must be prepared and well informed. By forcing the projection reflex, you are bypassing any natural protection that your energy body has set up for you, and that includes protection from your "personal demons" (which are not actual demons, they are negative emotions, but they could look like demons when you face the concept they represent in the astral).

And for this reason, I do not recommend using substances unless you've already had experiences out of body. A lot of people are worried about interference from other-worldly entities, but the real enemy is within, and if you are not prepared to face this enemy head-on, and get rid of it, you will most likely have a scary, puzzling, potentially scarring experience that will not be explained in any book about astral projection.
