Does it make sense to say that you would be unable to project from a position that you cannot fundamentally fall asleep from? Such as lying on my back.. It is simply impossible to fall asleep from there.. It means I don't fall asleep while meditating, but then I wonder if its also hindering me in that same sense in that I can't get deep enough? Because as far as I've realized, projecting is pretty much the same as falling asleep. So projecting from being fully concious (as opposed to waking up after sleep) is basically putting yourself to sleep and that is something I definately can't do on my back.

Robert Bruce wrote that if your body falls asleep while you are projecting it is difficult to re-enter in a controlled fashion and recover the memories. He said that the risks of falling asleep rise as the amount of time in projection is extended. My guess is that if you cannot fall asleep on your back it would be the perfect way to go out of body.

Any position that works for you is perfect.  I sit in a chair so that I won't fall asleep.

OBE/Projection isn't like falling asleep, it is more like we remove our awareness from the body into our own higher levels while the body is awake, unless of course if you are having an OBE while sleeping, LOL.

I've projected six times and on every account I got to that state by meditating for a long period of time and eventually falling asleep.

My meditation consists of relaxing, chakra work, and visualization.

Because my huge intension to project is there I make myself wake up as strange as it sounds, and when I do awake every time I am greeted with vibrations. If I have more intent they are stronger, and less the opposite.

I am comfortable with this method. I am not strong when it comes to meditation and I still need work with it. So falling asleep and waking up gets me deeper then I possibly could.

Some times I have a problem where I fall into a lucid dream during a projection, but I usually recall everything as clear as crystal. YOu don't forget such an experience as that. There is not way I will fall back to sleep after a projection.
