Is this how it's supposed to feel?

This has probably been discussed many, many times before, so sorry if it's a repost.

Well anyway, I was trying to have an OBE today (I haven't had one yet), and all of a sudden I started to feel really warm - kind of like I was rising too. My face went numb, and I felt really heavy, and even though it was dark out, and my eyes were closed, everything seemed to get lighter. I started to panic a little (I've had trouble with sleep paralysis before..yuck), and then I started to freak out. I sat up and breathed heavily for a while. It was scary! I don't know, it wasn't what I was expecting. Pretty crazy.

But if I knew that's what's supposed to happen, there wouldn't be a problem.

Thoughts?

Hi KRDecade,

Welcome to the forum.

Quote(I've had trouble with sleep paralysis before..yuck)

Do you mean the trouble was that you entered sleep paralysis or did you mean that once you entered sleep paralysis you couldn't exit?

Sleep paralysis is the same thing as mind awake body asleep and is the state that you want to be in to achieve Astral Projection. It's a good thing.

Regarding the experience you had, good job. You were less than a second away from exploring the astral plans. Just don;t chicken out next time :)

Best Regards

David

Whenever I'm really tired, and I sleep, I'll usually have sleep paralysis. I'll be able to see through my eyelids, hear what others are saying, etc. But I'll panic, and start breathing weird, it's pretty scary. That's why I chickened out :P

I have breathing problems myself so I can relate. I think that breathing problems may be actually hindering my ability to project more than I do, bu that's just an assumption at this point as I am still very much a beginner.

When you say you are breathing weird, what do you mean by weird?

Ya, that sounds like you're making progress.

Its a little scary at first, but think of it like your mind reminding you to come back down into your body when you're done. Nothing can harm you while your projecting or out of body so there really isn't much to be afraid of. Your mind just doesn't like being without its soul so it can be a little uncomfortable at first.

Don't freak out, relax, and just go with the flow.

weird as in, I try to scream a lot, I have breathing patterns that would make no sense, panic, etc.
