Title: strong, random, dizzying sensation
Post by: Greytraveller on May 08, 2003, 20:23:07
That is somewhat odd lateralus897. What is even odder is that today I experienced a very sudden and sharp overload/attack of kundalini energy. It was certainly kundalini because the incident took place while I was practicing a difficult asana in Hatha yoga. The force of the attack was so strong and swift that it nearly knocked me off my feet (honestly it was momentarily overwhelming). [B)][?]
Kundalini Could account for your incident as well, especially if you practice any form of yoga or breathing exercise.

That very well could be the case, although I don't practice yoga or any real specific breathing exercise. It was just something that came over me, and like you said, it was pretty overwhelming. What did your kundalini rush of energy feel like?

Here is a complete description of the experience.
Yesterday during a session of Hatha yoga (physical yoga of poses and postures) I was practicing a position called the Stomach Lock. During the first repitition of this pose I was suddenly and unexpectedly hit by a huge Wave of Energy.  This must have been Kundalini energy. The rush of kundalini was so violent that it physically pushed me backwards towards a wall causing me to lose my balance and fall.
It felt alot like coming inside on a freezing winter day when the temperature is 0 degrees and going into a steamy hot room  It was simply overpowering.
This has happened to me before on 2 or 3 occasions though it has not happened for several years. Ironically just the day before I posted a message on another website stating that I am now very careful Not to cause an overload of kundalini energy.
I have read similar reports of kundalini 'attacks' in books. Has anyone here had a similar experience

Could be blood flow related. When the flow of blood in the brain and to it suddenly changes the symptoms are a sudden dizziness or vertigo in the head area. The sensations lessen as the blood flow is restored to normal.
If you get them a lot see a doc just in case.

NOTE!! I'm not a doctor (MD) so this is not medical advise, only opinion.

Yep, diziness is a very common symptom of not enough blood getting to the brain, or when your blood sugar is low. Although the symptoms shouldn't have lasted so long. Strange... Most that's ever hit me was when I was doing yoga at a summer camp and my eyes blacked out. I was dizzy for quite a while.

It could last that long is the arteries leading to the brain were to dilate. This would cause the initial strong feeling of dizzyness. Then as the blood vessels begin to contract slowly the increasing blood flow would maintain the symptoms in a decreasing manner.

Again, I'm not a doctor nor would you want me to be. The above is lay man's speculation.

Thanx for those replies. You are most probably correct Jilola as it would make sense that a physical medical condition (brought on by yoga and kundalini) caused a (temporary) problem.
Yes caution Is warrented when dealing with powerful energies.[:)]

strange.....yesterday morning (early PST) I got very dizzy for no reason.  I couldn't explain it, and it kind of worried me.  It didn't go away till I fell asleep....odd that many people felt this.

cheers!

Dizziness due to circulatory changes is more likely to occur in the morning when the body begins to wake up and get more active..

NOTE! I'm not a doctor yada yada...

Jilola,

Now that you mention that. I know what you mean, I've felt that dizziness before. Just like getting up after lying down for awhile. But this was completely different. It was a powerful spinning sensation, not at all lightheaded. It's hard to describe, but there was a distinct difference, apart from the obvious difference in intensity. The overall feeling of it was much more overwhelming and I think too sudden to be what you're talking about. It hit me full force within a couple seconds.

I have experienced the same feeling both in and out of meditation.
I'm just speculating and since any sudden dizzy spells, especially ones that last longer than a few moments, should be investigated.

Mine did the same thing, it came on too fast and wasn't when I was waking up.  It was actually when I was about to go to sleep.  Very odd that it happened near the same time roughly.

cheers!

A little after 10am (eastern time) this morning, for no apparent reason, I got a very strong dizzying sensation (localized within my head). Everything just felt like it was spinning around.

I could compare this to a marijuana-like sensation, but everything else was still normal. It came out of nowhere, and was extremely strong right away. It gradually lessened over the next hour or so. One thing I also noticed for awhile after this, was that I actually had very vivid day dreams. I felt like I was almost phasing into them. I'm not saying that these things are related, but I feel it might be important to add that.

One of my theories is that I pinched/stimulated a nerve or something as my head was turned to the left. Otherwise I have no idea whatsoever. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? It wasn't unpleasant, so I hope that means it's a good thing. My main question is though, was this a strictly physical sensation? or maybe it was something outside of myself related to an energy sensation?

This was an extremely odd experience, your help is going to be greatly appreciated.
