How long did you try the rope before giving up...?
When you do it, you must really give everything you have. Put all your intent into it. Are you good at concentration?
About the pain, can't be sure but, many times, it's not that the pains appear, it's that you become more sensitive and aware of it.
Anyway, you did not waste your time apparently; you got a bunch of interesting sensations...

Yea, I don't think I wasted my time. It was a very interesting experience.. I got a lot further this time ever since the first time I reached vibrations. Because of all the reading i've done, I understand what paralysis is and why it's happening, so i'm not scared.
But I have a problem with the Tactile Imaging. It's not very easy for me to imagine being in a void while climbing a rope I can't see. My problem is how easy it for me to actually see the rope, etc. I gave everything I have in to using the ROPE, and it's just very difficult.
I read a short passage from Robert Bruce in his Treatise, and he says "physical pain" can occur if you are exerting pressure on your astral body, but your chakras aren't active or energy blockage. He used the stomache as an example.. depending on what you eat, if it hurts there.. you are kind of "tied" down to the physical body until you do energy work. But this was in my arms up in the biceps.. I don't lift weights or anything like that.. strange..
What you should do before doing this again is stretch out and do warm up exercises so the energy flows faster and the pain doesn't appear. it might take longer it might take shorter. But I think this way might prove some use.
I feel compelled to congratulate you, my friend! That's clearly the closest you have got to projection so far. It sounds to me like either your concentration just isn't quite there yet - in which case it will come, with practice - or something to do with your chakras. Try spending more time stimulating them. After a lot of practice with this, I can actually feel my base chakra sometimes, in just the way Bruce describes.
I never quite seem to get the paralysis myself (if you're not supposed to move a muscle though, how can you tell?), but I definitely feel a lot heavier and woozier afterwards.
I just tried too, and got closer than I have for a long time. I was trying ROPE and it wasn't working, so I just returned to meditation, having pretty much given up. I was probably on the borders of sleep, when suddenly something seemed to, er, 'flip' or something. My vision (eyes still closed) changed and my head felt really light. I immediately tried ROPE again and got so close! I'm sure it'll happen with enough practice, for both me and you. Just don't give up! [:)]

All you have to do is train your mind and do some mind training and do warm up exercises....well at least thats what worked 4 me.

Heya Huwie! This is the closest I have come since the first time I got "vibrations". This was a full paralysis state, and it's quite funny, because all though you aren't supposed to move.. you somehow know. This was verified when 2 hours passed, I decided it was time to throw the towel in for the night... and I couldn't move. But after trying real hard, I was able to pull my right arm up, then my left arm, and sit up. When I stood up, I almost fell over.. my legs buckled... oops.. I should probably pace myself next time!
That dang ROPE technique. I wish there was something I could do to increase my tactile imaging skills.
Here's a exercise for you to do although it might be hard for you to do. It has to do with mind training. what you do is close your eyes and picture a apple and notice everything about it{ the way it smells, tastes[if you eat it], the way it feels} and so forthe. until you can do it "snap" just like that. this should help you as your picturing a apple just like you would the rope.
But you aren't actually supposed to "see" it?

yes you are soposed to 'see' it your also soposed to feel it and so forthe.{only in your mind though unles you have trouble, then i would sogest that you put it near by just in case you need help with it.}

I actually DID read your post.. and I tried the things you suggested. First, I was trying to roll out.. the only thing thrasing my arms did was get me to snap out of paralysis and get up physically. I think your technique will work very well (to get out) if my focus is a little better.
I wonder how many other people have problems in this state.
I've had the same problem during meditation/AP. I've not tried to AP in awhile but since I've begun, I have had several "waking paralysis" episodes.
The bad thing about the waking paralysis state is that it is very uncomfortable. The last thing that comes to mind during that state is trying to AP. I'm working on that issue though.
This happened to me just last night. I awoke feeling slight paralysis with the "feeling" of my husband sleeping nearby on his back. Then I looked at him, think it was astral sight (mine has a blue hue like moonlight). I had the thought to "slide" or "float" myself over to him. Thought that was kind of a weird thing to think to myself. SLIDE/FLOAT over to him?? I could have just rolled over. Then I fell back to sleep.
Wish I could offer some piece of advice to you. I've found that it's taken a lot of patience but also a fair amount of perseverence for the few odd experiences I have had thus far.[8)]
Its good that you've read my post. Dragen , I was talking it over with a friend of mine last night and we both realized that it helps to break paralysis and take control of your astral body when you relax a bit during the paralysis state. Maybe trying to move a bit and noticing the paralysis, then relaxing quickly and trying to move again might help.. I've broken paralysis and had an OBE many times with that simple exercise. Relaxing is one thing .. focusing is another.. you can relax your body and not focus on anything (or keep your mind quiet) but you could also relax your body and focus on it at the same time.. I find that if I relax my body and focus on it , it makes my awareness switch to my physical body thus ending the experience.. So be careful .. you will learn what I mean when you play around with paralysis a few times. You should notice the split feeling also.. the feeling of one body being directly on/inside your other body and one is your astral body still stuck to the physical and all you have to do it peel it away.. like shedding skin. Its really not as hard as it seems.. I may give a very detailed explanation on how I exit but it only takes a matter of seconds once I realize I'm in paralysis for me to get free. Dont overthink it ..its the worse thing you could do when the opportunity arrises.

Thank you for the valuable advice. You just hit it on the head when you said it feels like your bodies are "overlayed" per se. There were many times it felt like there were two of me right on top of each other.. tied together. That's why it felt like I had another hand laying there when I broke paralysis by moving my right arm physically.
So you are saying, you get bad results when you relax and focus on the body, where as, relaxing and just keeping my mind quiet should yield better results? I guess it's something I should experiment with. I'm hoping, now that I have reached this deep paralysis state, that it will be increasingly easier to get back to it in the future.
I mean, I do want this to occur right? Everything I have been reading seems to suggest that this is borderline astral projection!
yes thats exactly what I mean about he relaxing and focusing on your body.. Your right.
I have projected while in paralysis from relaxing AND focusing on my body but I'm only be able to do that because I've been doin it for so long... it comes in time..
For oyu I suggest focusing little to none on your physical body while trying to get past paralysis.
I have a good feeling this info will help along with those 2 methods I posted.

In fact, if I remember correctly, you are not supposed to see the rope or visualize anything... What you want is to get feeling of going up. You know the feeling you get in an elevator... It's this kind of sensation that you want to focus on. Focus on the lifting.
When I try to do exit techniques or even get the vibrations (and the vibrations do come.. but with a most unfortunate side effect!).. I experience unimaginable, excruciating pain. It's like muscle spasms but like someone's sticking a bladed pitchfork deep in your muscle, twisting it and turning it, tearing out the muscle, re-pressing against the muscle, and so on. That's what my astral pains feel like.
And it always seems to be concentrate on an area on my back or spine. Like I'm somehow binded so close to it it feels like real physical pain, which could actually be it. I'm unsure yet.
I am sorry to hear that everyone has been through somekind of pain when AP, but you should actually ignore it the best you can. another thing is that I've herd but haven't taking into concideration is that when AP it's like when your body dies{ the paralysis and not knowing how to get out} and the soul gets trapt there until one fiqures out how to get out and by then they get transported to the next life without even getting to take a 'free ride' in the astra plane of exsistence. It's a cruel fate the people that never know how have to go through.
The more and more I go through this, the more I am starting to think you are right Dark_Phoenix. I think a lot of people can get stuck in certain places and have a difficult time figuring a way out. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that i'm one of them. (Right now, anyway)
Graupel, I am sorry to hear you are having difficulties. Really, I fully understand.. because I am going through the same thing. I started this thread 2 nights ago, because I entered paralysis and couldn't get out. Then the pain started.
I started meditating at 6:30pm last night, and never came out of paralysis until 11:30pm. I couldn't be further from telling the truth. During this time, I was very relaxed, at first.. and then the pain in my arms started again. It feels like I have nails pounded in my elbow joints. And it throbs. This only occurs when I enter deep paralysis.
After this point, I am stuck here. I can leave at any time if I start moving my fingers and toes. (Which I am able to do) and then I can slowly start lifting my limbs. But I stay in this state, because many of you have suggested it is borderline OBE. But I can't get out. I am starting to get a little frustrated..
I put everything I had in to the ROPE technique. I attempted to relax and just focus on nothing. (Like Zarklon suggested) I also tried focusing on my body and 3rd eye. I tried using a ladder... the interesting part is how I can actually feel results for a brief period of time, but then I lose the visualization. It's like, I only get 5-10 seconds of "good" visualization.
Does anybody know what is happening? Why the horrible pain in my arms? Why am I stuck here for hours? Is it impossible for me to do this? I have been to a hypnotist before, and all his techniques never worked on me. I can't help wonder if i'm the type of person that can't do this because of that?
Any feedback or suggestions will greatly help me out. As well as others in this thread. Thanks guys. It's greatly appreciated.

maybe you should try flying out of your body instead of the 'rope' or 'latter' technique? maybe that will help.
and ask for the hypno therapy, I to have never been in duced before even if i did everything i was soposed to do. maybe my techniques are to blame seeing as i to have had trouble in the past.

I'm willing to try anything at this point. I have attempted to fly. I could feel/visualize myself floating upwards inside of a long tunnel. I have also visualized myself floating up near the ceiling and I can even visualize myself standing up near my door.. while i'm physically laying down on the bed. (Which Robert Bruce says is difficult to do)
I thought maybe I was trying to hard. But I tried Zarklon's advice last night, and just relaxed. Relaxing caused more pain in my arms. I can ignore it.. but I think it is effecting my abilities to concentrate more.
I just don't know what else I can do. [V]

ok when you go into the paralysis stage, wake your physical body up just enough so that you can no longer feel paralysed and stand up in your astral body. maybe that will work I know i tried this way with my self and it worked a few times until i fiqured out a way to do it on my own without waking my body up.

Your suggestions and input are greatly appreciated! I will continue to try yours and everybody's suggestions. When I wake myself up physically and get up, I really do get up. I feel like a dump truck ran me over, but i'm up. I feel like my astral body is tied down to my physical body with chains!
One thing is for sure, all your ideas are helping me build an arsenal of knowledge and techniques, to try every night. Hopefully I will have a break-through. (No pun intended)
ok your going to say " send him away to a insane isalym" or some stuff like that when i'm done posting. because what i'm about to say is constructed towards anime , a anime show called dbz. but when the people power up they flex thier muscles and thats what i'm going to talk about. when you feel paralysis and you can't move try making a muscle and 'break' the chains with your muscles and get up that way.
If I do that, I get up physically. Somehow i'm not transferring to my astral body. [V]
I think our chakras are producing a differnet frequency of energy or something. Here's something interested I didn't mention before:
Whenever I wear a watch, it always slows down and eventually stops because of something to do with my bio-electrical energy.
And in a previous post, I mentioned that whenever I go into a networking closet of routers, swithces, hubs, and other networking equipment along with the jumbled mess of hundreds of "live" flowing CAT-5 wires. my blood just explodes and starts to swell underneath the skin and pool.
Jeez Graupel, I work in I.S. and don't have that problem. That would just end my job (and probably my life, the way you describe it) in a heartbeat. lol
Although the strangest thing happened to me today, when I went to lunch with a co-worker and we walked in to Mcdonalds. There was a Christmas tree setup with a few ornaments on it, across the resteraunt, and as soon as I pointed at the tree and said "Hey look.." BAM, an ornament flew off the Christmas tree! My co-worker looked at me and said, "Well, how in the hell did you do that?"
So was it just a coincidence? Or did I really knock it off the tree? [;)]

I believe telekensis is just a form of transferring energy from the chakras into an exterior object in the physical plane.

I am still having problems with projection. I'm not sure what i'm going to do. I can get in to a paralysis mode pretty easily.. but I may not be as deep as originally suspected. But I can't imagine going any deeper than I have been..
I think right about now, the only thing left for me to do is keep practicing and hope things work. The ROPE technique... well, it's horrible. I can't do it. I can do the clairvoyant visualization that most people say is hard, but I can't do something "simple" like pretending to climb a rope? I must be retarded or something..
For the most part, I get pretty crazy feelings of swinging back and forth.. like i'm floating kind of, and then I sway back and forth. This is a great feeling.. kind of like i'm on a ride! But I don't go much past this.. maybe I need to let this happen more and more..

My mind is pretty relaxed, no thoughts. But I can't help wonder if i'm "too aware". I think occasionally I got impatient, but I keep on trying. I think I just want to see some results.
I have tried energy raising quite a bit. But i'm not sure if it's working, or if i'm doing it right. Am I supposed to visualize hands.. or simply visualize the energy instead.
I did try the imaginery walk. Actually this seems pretty easy for me. I can walk around my house, float around on the roof.. and I do it better than trying the ROPE technique. Strange huh?
Lately, I have been experimenting with this paralysis state.. trying to use Robert Monroe's techniques of just watching hypnagogic images and focusing on nothing. I think my mind is real sensitive to the physical world.. if I think, hear, feel, smell, or see anything "physical".. it keeps me tied down.
Personaly, I don't really imagine hands (very poor visualization); I just imagine "something" going up (no particular shape)... and it makes a sensation appear in my legs/body...
Maybe you could try to shift your consciousness/awarness. Imagine that you are in your energy body, floating a few feet above your physical body. Don't visualize this other body; be in it. If you could open your eyes, you should be able to see the ceiling from a few inches... If you are in it; you should feel your physical body below.

Thanks for the information and advice. I read anything and everything pertaining to metaphysics. I'm a big knowledge sponge. But it's enjoyable for me, even though I haven't experienced it first hand (yet) I like learning about it the best I can.
I ordered Robert Bruce's books the other day; Astral Dynamics and Psychic Defense. I can't wait until they get here.
But for the most part, I am pretty sure i'm in paralysis, because I can't move unless I force my fingers to move. A lot of times, I get sensations in my hands.. for example.. my physical hands are resting with palms down and suddenly I can't feel them anymore. Instead, I feel like my palms are turned "upward" or in a position I know they aren't in. Strange eh?
You would think, being in this state would be easy to use to your advantage. But I cannot for the life of me (again, no puns intended), get out. Is there such a thing as being "too aware"? I don't feel the slightest bit tired (until I snap out of it and start moving around physically) and I don't think about anything.
For the most part, imagining myself floating up near the ceiling can be pretty easy. Sometimes I get pretty interesting results from this.. but not enough to get out. I guess the only thing I can do is keep trying. I have my whole life ahead of me.. what's the rush? If I keep working at it.. I will get there!

I can't give you any advice, sorry. I'm just posting this to say that the same thing allways happens to me, but instead of feeling another me I feel the presence of another thing.

Hey, it's been educational for me too! I am doing better, and it appears I get more and more relaxed each session. Just last night I had a spontaneous (well almost) OBE. I blacked out during exit. Which probably means I fell asleep.
Funny, I was so far out of it, I didn't even think to check paralysis. I'm assuming I was.. I was more intriqued with the vibes than anything else. That sure felt cool!
Now if I can do this from the meditative paralysis state, i'll be good to go! More practice practice.

I've had similar problems as well. Like Dragen I've found it very easy to see myself from say..the other side of the room but I still get this feeling like I'm stuck. In fact, most of my experiences have been almost identical to the ones that Dragen has discribed.
Additionally, I'm curious as to what it's suppossed to feel like? What kind of sensations occur once your out of body. I've often had situations where I felt like I was out of body but I was still very aware of my physical bodies surroundings. Even if I was some place else entirely (mentally), I would still hear if say, some walked into the room that I was in. Is that normal or what? Am I actually getting out of body or am I just floating around in la, la land?
Any help would be appreicated.

Welcome to the forums! Usually, a full projection is described as being as realistic as your waking life, even more so. It sounds like you are Remote Viewing? By the way you described everything, it seems as if you are drawing pictures, 3D space in your mind, which is a clairvoyant Remote Viewing ability. Or possibly Astral Sight.
I haven't entered paralysis for a while now. I'm not sure if it's absolutely necessary. I have been reading quite a bit, and have changed my course of training. I posted a thread over here on overcoming these paralysis issues, and trying other techniques to induce OBE.

Believe it or not, it feels almost EXACTLY as you do right now, in your waking physical life. The main difference, though, is that you're consciously aware that you're having an out of body experience, and it takes an incredible amount of focus and control to maintain the experience.

Like Dragen said, you may have been having a little remote viewing thing going on. Put it this way. When you do have an OBE, there will be little doubt in your mind about what is happening. It's THAT profound.
Some people may have vague memories of having one, but when you experience a full blown OBE, there is no question left in your mind that you have achieved your goal.
From the experience you described above, it doesn't sound like you "projected yourself" anywhere. You simply felt sensations. It's almost as if you were at a circus watching the tightrope act. While watching the man suspended hundreds of feet in the air, you may feel some dizziness yourself, or a vertigo effect. This doesn't mean you are actually walking the tightrope.
On the other hand, when you finally DO find yourself walking the tightrope on your own, you KNOW that you KNOW that you KNOW that you're doing it....and it takes a lot of focus and control to maintain the experience. OBE's are kinda like that. [:D]

I get that a lot, but usually when I first lie down and am not even close to falling asleep, or paralysis.
When you're paralyzed try imagining a friend and then keep asking them to pull you out.
Whenever a dream I'm in abruptly ends I try my hardest not to move and just remember the very last part of the dream and call to the person who was nearest to me to pull me out of my body...
It almost always works, and is a lot easier than reconstructing the dream scene and trying to enter it on your own..
So, that may or may not work for you if you can get a version of someone to manifest in that blackness and help you out (note, you don't have to see them at all)

I'm a little out of it, so if this post seems incoherent, just say "Hey Dragen, you're out of it." But I just got out of a LONG meditative session, trying to Astral Project.
I spent 2 full hours in paralysis. My whole body was numb, heavy, and it felt huge. Couldn't really move. This was fine for a while, but I couldn't for the life of me pull myself out. The ROPE technique is NOT working for me... I got some vibrations, tingling sensations, and feelings of vertigo.
And will somebody please tell me why I felt pain in my arms? I don't know what this was, or why I was feeling it.. but it felt painful. And at times, it felt like there were 2 of me... briefly.. but I couldn't get out. I visualized myself floating near the ceiling with my nose 1 inch away from it.. I felt "pulling" but it still wouldn't release. I must be tied down with spiritual chains for crying out loud! [;)]
Anyway, I was able to get out of paralysis physically.. it took one hell of an effort to get up. When I moved my physical arm, it felt like it was "dislocated" from another arm that was laying their. It was strange. After like fighting like crazy to sit up, I stood up and realized how solid I was. And here I sit.
My mind was fully awake for 2 hours while my body slept.. the strangest feeling is being so incredibly tired physically, but being awake during the whole thing consciously. I had a hard time just walking across the room!
What do you guys think about this? What am I doing wrong? I really did relax.. I attempted ROPE and other techniques many times.. if it didn't work, I would relax my mind, and then try again. But it still didn't yield results.
Anyway, I don't want this thread to get too long. Very strange and new experience indeed. Perhaps I shouldn't wake myself up and get up that fast in the future. How close do you think I was? Any tips?
