Nay

When my were younger I would ask them about dreams every morning at breakfast.. still do actually.  But when they got older I just told them, simple as that.

I know I've mentioned my kids alot over the years and have discussed such...discussions.

I told my son who was 7 1/2 at the time, that there are 2 kinds of dreams:  The type which your brain creates, where you see what your imaginations create, and another, where part of your mind can see what is happening outside in the world, and you then can see what is happening, say in the backyard, like looking through a periscope, and sometimes when you dream you're flying you're actually having the second type of dream.  When he gets older (he is nine, but an immature nine) I will elaborate if he reports anything (he sometimes reports what sound like OBEs-I had them at his age (actually much younger) but I was a little more mature at his age.  I feel that at this interpretation will make him feel more secure (no fear of leaving his body behind or any other thing like that.  And I will never tell him about negs until he's 30.

thats some real interesting points you've made about discussing this sort of thing with children.

my two nieces came to me one day and told me that there were scarred because of monsters when they sleep and dream. i wanted to come full circle with them but decided to add a little fun mixed in. I said to them the next time you see a bad person or monster, just tell them to pull your finger and let out a big fart. the odor alone will make them go away and disappear. my two nieces laughed and told them in a serious tone, try it the next time and just have fun.
