Hello,

I started focusing on getting out of body this year on Thanksgiving Day and it's now been a month since I have been consistently trying to have my first astral projection.

The main issues that have come up have been:

I set my alarm for 3AM and go back to bed to attempt an OBE and I get insomnia during the attempt that it takes me 1-3 hours to either fall asleep or start feeling the vibrations. When I DO get the vibrations they seem to start on my side and it startles me because they tickle my sides so I can't handle the vibrations. Why am I getting tickled by the vibrations which disrupt the whole process. They make me move abruptly because the tickle feeling is startling.

When I don't get the tickle, the vibrations don't last very long and they subside on their own.

How can I troubleshoot these problems because I am now getting to the vibrational stage often but that's as far as I have gotten this past month of OBE attempts.

Thanks in advance

Xanth

It kind of sounds like you're putting waaaaaaay too much emphasis on the Vibrations.
You're aiming FOR them, when you should be aiming PAST them.  So once you experience them... your subconscious mind goes, "Ok!  Got it!  I'm done here!".

The Vibrations aren't required to project.  Instead of focusing so much on them as part of the goal, take the mindset of "if they come, they come... if they don't, they don't".
They're a signpost experience that reads, "Keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing it right"... except you're experiencing them, then stopping what you're doing and focusing on them.

That's why you keep losing it.

Just acknowledge them and continue focusing your awareness AWAY from this physical reality.  :)

Hi Explorer,
Here are a few things to try:

1. When you feel the vibrations and paralysis, don't wait too long. Think immediately of a location and try to mentally teleport yourself. That will get you quickly fully focused in the non-physical environment. Some people try physical like movements to get out, but I find more success just using my thoughts as a teleporting method. Apply as much intent as you can

2. I find that whatever motions I imagine before drifting back to sleep, these motions will be felt when the vibrations hit. I also use the early morning method and when I try to get back to sleep, I imagine my bed as a swing and start swaying side to side. You said that you get too awake, but I think if you get to your favorite sleeping position, get comfy, and start imagining lets say that you are in a boat in a beautiful island, and the waves are rocking the boat, this will trigger strong vibes as you drift back to sleep and it will be pleasant for you. For me applying any inner motion works very good. Some times I imagine just floating up through my roof and into the sky. Then when the vibes hit, I feel that exact motion.

3. Try using affirmations before you fall back to sleep and reaffirm that you will not feel any unpleasant sensations. Imagine the sensation you want to feel and hold it in your thoughts.

4. Vibrations are not necessary as Xanth said, and sometimes I don't get them. I just drift back to sleep and shortly I am mentally awaken, knowing that my body is asleep and I can refocus. At that time I feel like I am laying asleep with my eyes closed. I don't see anything, but I know that my body is fully asleep and that my awareness is awake. Then I apply the same thought teleporting method.

Thanks for the swift replies Xanth and Lightbeam

I just woke up from an afternoon nap in where as usual I almost projected. I was drifting to sleep with affirmations when all of the sudden I felt tingling and then I tried to get up with my astral body and could feel myself separating but then it just ends and for some reason this happens all of the time. I haven't been able to completely separate.

+Explore+, here is a link to other possible "signposts" you might experience as well. But just like with vibrations, passively observe them and stay the course. You can log them in your Journal and question them once your AP session is completed.

Perhaps you were too slow in getting out of your body and that is why it ended.   It used to happen to me a long time ago.   If I took too long to get out of my body, it would end.

Yesterday I almost astral projected but as usual it ends abruptly. It happened at 10:30PM after I woke up from a dream cycle and I heard someone shout "MOM!" a bunch of times and I felt myself rise up to the ceiling but then it just ends and as usual I keep having this problem of it always ending before I actually get somewhere...  :|

It is because your focus is moving away from the experience. The mental snap of realizing something is happening is often enough to disrupt it, even if you are unaware that your thoughts returned to this reality they have to some degree.

It is far easier said than done, but if you are floating you are probably deep enough for cementing. Spin your body in a circle and it will engage your mind in the current experience.

I thought we got over this whole "vibration" thing years ago.

Stop expecting certain "tell-tale" AP signs.

It took me years to have my first successful otherworld experience. It took so long for me because I was waiting for vibrations and sleep paralysis and blah blah blah.

Let that crap go.

Keep practicing, but don't expect anything. Just do the exercises and roll with whatever comes. If the wake induced stuff is causing insomnia, stop. Try something else. I'm just like you in that regard. The only time the whole Wake Induced Lucid Dream type approach works for me is in the morning when I wake naturally. So, basically, on the weekends, lol.

What has always worked best for me in inducing an 'astral projection" is to make my attempt sometime in the afternoon when I feel like a nap. Then do your exercises.

The point being, if it's not working, try something else before you get stuck in a practice that just isn't for you.
be awesome.
