Nah, jk, I haven't done any projecting before, either. I did come close, though, last week. I made it out, but couldn't see clearly. I tried to open my eyes and they opened. My corporeal counterparts eyes. Ruined my little 2 second projection.  I think I'm going to ste—'borrow' my sister's eye cover thingy.

Hey there.

It seems that the newness of these sensations are startling you. You can try mentally preparing yourself for them first, say remembering how it felt last time, and being aware that it can be that strong or stronger. That way you may be able to stop getting that emotional shock a jarring when things happen. You seem to be on the right track. Just understand that the sensations may be strong for a while. Keep practicing and they lessen in intensity.

Take care.

Sincerely,

kvan, when your eyelids want to open you have to fight hard to keep them closed. Close them tight and continue with the exit procedure.

It can happen that even when you're already out you notice your physical eyes are trying to open. When it happens, you must close your eyes again and keep moving your astral body, touch the first structure you see, so that you can better tune yourself into that dimension.

To break past the barrier and project you have to continue with the efforts even if it feels like it's not working, or that it is taking too long. If you're using the YO-YO method you've got to feel the sway in an ever increasing way, bring it to the maximum. Ignore all the other sensations and as you sway more and more try to visualize yourself hovering above your bed.

A few seconds before you actually project you may see some clarity around your eyes and it could feel as if you're waking. Don't let that fool you, you're surely waking, but not to this dimension.

I've tried (when my eyes open) to focus back on them and close them, but when I do that, I seem to lose the projection.  I'll try that again though.  Thanks.

Ok, when your eyes open you experience billocation (see 2 different situations, 1 physical and 1 astral), or you see only the physical plane mixed with some astral forms (blankets flying, weird lights in the room, little people walking around, etc)?

It's strange that you lose the projection when you try to close your eyes. When you feel the fluttering eyes you're supposed to be in REM and you could only be brought back by getting anxious and/or scared.

I haven't been able to project yet, either, but since I can't visualize well, I am practicing the rope method, I think you might find it easier

Hi all,

This is my first time posting here, although I have been reading the posts here for quite a while.  Anyway, I am having trouble with astral projection.  I start out every time right before bed, so I am relaxed, then I make sure I get comfortable, and proceed to do relaxation exercises for a while, until I am good and relaxed.  Once there, I do some "loosening" exercises, (imagining my astral body floating around me, going in circles, up and down, etc.  Although I don't have the book yet, I saw those exercises in Astral Dynamics, though where in the book, I'm not sure.)  All that goes fine, then I start on the actual projection attempt by using the YO-YO method.  Here's the problem.  I start getting strong energy sensations fairly quickly, but my eyelids keep wanting to open, and a couple times, when I've felt that I was very close to an actual projection, I felt this rush of energy, and I opened my eyes and ruined it.  I guess I have another problem too.  Last time I tried projecting, I got really strong energy sensations, but I seemed stuck there, and couldn't get anywhere.  They gradually faded.  How can I keep my eyes shut and break past that barrier that keeps me from projecting?  Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks
