I've been meditating for a couple of years, but I didn't know how powerful it could be until the past couple of weeks.  I just registered after finding this amazing site.  Yesterday, I entered into what I would consider a state of sleep while fully aware.  I was in a trance and I couldn't keep my eyes fully closed thus creating distracting light flashes, but there was definately something going on different than ever before.  The energetic buzz was intense and I felt as though I could float out of my body.  However, I was not able to "get out" or "break through".

I did open my eyes for a few minutes but I felt that I was asleep.  I was not able to see anything out of the ordinary.
Does opening the eyes while in this state wake you up?

Also, I was trying to pull myself out of my body (eyes closed), but I could not pop out.  Do you actually see out of your energetic self floating around?  What are some of the best methods to pull yourself out of the body once you reach the proper level.

If you want to touch something, do you just think about touching an object, or do you try to physically touch it?
Thank you for any advice.  I plan on reading Robert Bruce's books as soon as I can get my hands on them.

To cure the "eyes closed" issue... try to stretch them out a bit before you sit/lie down to practice.  Close them tightly a few times, holding for a few seconds each time.  Then circle them around as far to each angle as you can comfortably.

The flashes could have either been due to your eyes slightly opening... OR... there's a phenomenon that happens in a state we call Focus 12, whereby you'll "see" visual effects or objects.  You could have been experiencing that.

When you actually do "get out"... anything you "touch" will feel just like when you touch something when you're awake and physical.  :)

I practice a type of projection we call "Phasing"... and I use an exercise we call "Noticing".
I've written a lot of articles on the subject of Phasing, and recently I compiled them into a kind of Phasing Primer.

Give the articles a read in the order listed and see if they help you at all.  :)

Hi xanth, is this the same as the third eye strobe?

I believe it depends upon "when" it's experienced.
If it's right away, then no... but if you're pretty unaware of bodily sensations and very relaxed at the time, then it could possibly be Focus 12.

Focus 12 "visuals" can be everything from something very subtle to something so obvious.  :)
