The cell phone technique

The practice of this phase(OBE, AP, lucid) entry technique is to imagine the sensation that something is resting in the hand, desirably upon awakening without any physical movement. It is best to imagine a cell phone is in the hand because the modern person is quite accustomed to this sensation, although any other object will do. It is necessary to actively and attentively focus on the sensations in the palm of the hand. Most likely, the physical sensation of a phone lying in the hand will quickly arise. The sensation will become increasingly palpable. If a sensation does not arise within 10 seconds, the technique not going to work and it is time to switch to another one.

When the sensation of a phone in the hand occurs, focus every bit of attention on it. It should be noted that this will not be an imagined sensation, but a real one. This should be understood from the very beginning, and results should be expected. Once the sensation is stable, start feeling the mobile phone with the fingers. Physical sensations should be experienced. The physical body, of course, must not move or strain. If this does not work, only focus attention on the sensation of the phone lying in the hand and try to feel the phone with the fingers later. If feeling the phone with the fingers is successful, actively roll the phone around the hand, feeling all of its details.

As soon as it is possible to roll the cell phone around in the hand, separation from the body may be attempted. In this case it is usually easiest to separate by rolling out or standing up. Continue to hold the phone and roll it around, which will maintain the emerging phase state. Separation in this case should be more like actually getting up physically or rolling out of bed, rather than actually separating one thing from something else. That is, do this in the same way as physically getting out of bed, starting from the sensation of the phone in the hand.

If separation is unsuccessful, continue to attentively feel the phone in the hand for a little while longer and try to separate again. If separation happens, the next step is to take actions that are typical for a phase experience: deepening, and then accomplishing predetermined tasks while performing maintaining techniques. If only a partial separation occurs, then separation by force should be attempted.

Generally, the real sensation of a phone in the hand arises with every second attempt. Furthermore, achieving success only requires experience and some dexterity since feeling the sensation of a phone in the hand signifies that the required state has been reached and subsequent actions may be attempted.

It works in 30-50% of attempts

Typical errrors:
- doing it not after awakening
- doing it too long if nothing happened(more than 15-30 sec)
- waiting for something if any phone already in the hand

Thats an interesting technique. Its one that I would try but what I do works well for me and I wouldn't want to try anything else. In theory it sounds like a really good technique.

Panthau

Tried it, no success as always. Im not focused enuff i think.

Would that work with a pen instead of a mobile phone ?
I don't use my mobile phone that much, but most of the day I hold a pen (Tablet instead of mouse) in my hand.

Edit: tried it immeditaely after waking up in the night, did not have an effect on me.

Panthau when you wake up get as deep as you can without falling back to sleep, then see if you can move your awareness/consciousness to another part of your body. For instance throughout the course of your day where do you feel like you are in your body? Most people perceive that they (their awareness) is concentrated in the region of the head. So concentrate on moving your awareness to somewhere like your chest for instance. Feel your awareness moving into your chest, if you succeed you should feel it in some way. This is an exercise I read in a book a while back, it's meant to help a person to learn to move their consciousness/awareness to places it normally doesn't reside. If you can succeed with that exercise then you should be able to do the same thing in order to focus your awareness away from your body completely.

I know it can be frustrating to try techniques that may work for others but they don't seem to work on you, I've been there man. The whole thing really comes down to learning to focus yourself in a different way. It's something that is hard to put into words, but most would liken it to tuning a radio to a different station (albeit mentally). The conditioning that takes place in order just to function as a child in the physical world sets us to a certain frequency, the older you are the more your consciousness is rooted in that "frequency". So it takes a lot to overcome it and to learn to shift your awareness. I started this when I was 22 - 23 and I am now 27 an am still learning to navigate while out of the body. Although it did take a few years before I even succeeded, but once I did I realize how simple the whole thing is to focus in the way that is needed. It's like just "letting go" of the physical is how I would describe it, just let go... Good luck.

Thanks T.L., ill practice that.

Weird thing is, that when something
works it feels like i knew it anyway and just remembered how it works.

One thing that seems to work for me, is just laying down on my back,
with my hands beside my body and dont move at all. After a while i feel a
terrible twitch...after a while the twitch comes again and if i didnt moved until
that point, i feel the sleep paralysis creeping up my body. That works everytime
(if im patient enough), the problem with that is, that every reaction stops
the paralysis...so too much thinking, breathing or excitement destroys it, but
its damn hard not to get excited hehe.

Doesnt matter anyway, im sure some day ill make it...its just a matter of time.
Even if it needs 20 years...

This Technique does work, i had two successful OBEs earlier this afternoon.
My experience:

Fell asleep, woke up began to feel cell phone, after a short while it was as if there was a spark between my two fingers and the wave of energy swept throughout my body, i then made an attempt to leave. I could see my room and my energy body was free from the physical with the exception of my head, it was detached but not completely able to gain any distance from it. I then returned and made a second attempt where the same thing happened, a spark sensation and energy wave swept over, left and unfortunately same problem occured as mentioned above. I then decided to stop and attempt again at another time.

And never forget of deepening this state

First of all I never self induced an obe, but oh my this technique...
Tried it this morning just a couple of minutes ago and just had to come write it up.
I spend a lot of time on the computer so I started to imagine the mouse in my hand while staying still and layed on my side. Within maybe less than 10 seconds I was already having full sleep paralysis kicking in, not just numb body, I couldnt move any more, in 10 seconds.... can you beleive that? I also had a big sensation of pressure in my ears, it all took me by surprise so I forced myself out by altering my breathing without going further.
When I felt the sleep paralysis I didnt focus too much on the mouse but I did notice my grip on it was pretty solid.

Panthau

Haha sounds crazy. Damn why does all of this wont work for me :-|

I found a website with some useful information: http://spiritual.com.au/articles/astral/astralp1_rbruce.htm

Why im writing this, is because i did the technique to raise the energys through your chakras,
and guess what...i tried the cellphone technique this morning and got vibrations all over the body
(which was never the case on other tries).

I try and try and wonder...of course it cannot work if my energy is too low.

Btw, the author describes how to raise the energy and open up the chakras, but he doesnt
mention to close them again...shouldnt they be closed again afterwards?

MikeMk

ooh
Everytime when people make errors they search and imagine any reasons that they are right...

What chakras? I have many hundreds of OBEs and even do not belive in chakras...

If you cannot achieve OBE you do something wrong!

I know I havnt had an obe, but when im relaxing and my hands are still I can feel as if my fingers are moving. either going up and down or moving side to side. but I can feel all of them moving, not at the same time but simaltaniously. whenever I feel it I think my hand just isnt relaxed enough and i move my hand and the feeling goes away, until I relax them again.

Panthau

wow i had a really wired experience tonight. i woke up,
saw my room and instantly remembered the cell phone technique.

so i imagined the cell phone, turned it around and then gave it in my
mind to the other hand...which kind of "sucked" my astral body out
of my physical, but i was tight to it like glue and couldnt get out.

besides that, everything felt horrible...like a nightmare. i was so scared,
i couldnt even move for a while hehe
10mins later i wanted to try again lol...but it didnt worked anymore.

SkepticBoy

Anyone tried this technique recently?

moondial

Yeah I've had success with this. Works best when you fall asleep & then wake up.

The best experience I had with this was when I went to bed, then got up a few hours later at around 1am, went downstairs to do some work that I had forgot to do - then went back to bed about 3am, not long after that I woke up & tried the phone technique, worked straight away.

good luck :)

Yes, I tried it once. I didn't have a projection right away but a few hours later I had a spontaneous one. So I guess I will have to try it again to see if it was a coincidence.  :-)

Quick Q: why must this technique only be tried after you have awoken from sleep? ty.

David Warner

many times after having the initial wide awake induced obe and losing consciousness I will be in a false awakening not realizing it. most of the time when doing so, I am narrating the obe a.s.p. to my pocket pc so I won't foget the experience. when I finally do return to the physical and after realizing being tricked by the false awakening I now have two experiences to narate.

any type of object you can focus on during the obe upong physical awakening and returning back to sleep will yield postive results. its basically tricking your mind / awake body sleep state.

still good technique.

But if you have just woken from sleep, why try and induce mind awake body asleep if your not going to go to sleep again?
