This is poll to see how do you classify your obes.

Do ou think that they are more real than reality itself? Or more like a dream?

Do u feel it like if you are really leaving your body? or more like entering into a waked dream?

I made this question in the past, but not with a poll! :)

Good! 2 votes lol!

Like reality... I have yet to see the "shineyness" of the Astral.

CFTraveler

I didn't vote 'cause the clarity of my OBEs have changed through the years.
They used to be realistic and verifiable- lately they are dreamlike and 'shiny'- or cartoonlike (not necessarily ld-like).  So it varies.  Frankly, I see a downhill trend.

Kazbadan

Why is that so? What happened in your life so that you now have less lucid obes?

Is is less time and dedication? No patient for doing it?

btw, you spoke on veryfing obes? Can you tell us some experiences where you could verify the obes? thanks
I love you!

MisterJingo

I haven't voted as the clarity of my OBEs varies quite widely. Some OBEs are very faint, in them I'm almost like an automaton with little of my higher faculties apparent. Others I see a 'super-clarity'. Like my mind and consciousness is burning staggeringly bright – these OBEs are rare and they do feel more 'real' than reality. The majority of my OBEs see a similar level of clarity to my waking consciousness. Although at first it can feel like I'm only half awake (leading me to question if I'm OBE or just awoken and feeling a bit sleepy).

Kazbadan

Keep voting please! there are so many OBErs here! It would be interesting to know more about this.

thanks

its true i think everyones obes vary and are not the same clarity each time...because for me sometimes id have very real obes more real then reality, then id have obes that somewhat match reality, then a lot of times id have obes less real then dreams, totally crap quality obes.....but dont get me wrong im not complainin

Selski

Another one who can't vote - I vary between the top four choices and it varies massively.

Sorry Kaz.

I'm with Selski and the rest on this. Top four categories, varies but never feels like an ordinary dream.  CFTraveller - I've also had a few experiences which seemed cartoon-like too.  One was when I went into space to view the planet Earth. When I reached "outer space" the Earth seemed like a cartoon caricature of the "real earth".  It seemed like I was back on Earth looking at a cardboard cut-out of the planet, rather than really being in outer space.  This sort of thing is caused I think by a breakdown in "believing" in the experience.  If you stop believing, your mind stops creating the reality.  However, if you believe totally, the reality is total too.

I agree that it varies widely, but as an average my obes feel about on par with reality with that subtle difference... that unexplainable difference.

Your obes, when they feel like a dream are they still somewhat different from it?
i mean, which differences do u find between obes and lucid dreams?
I love you!

Most of my OBE's have been as real as reality itself, when in the RTZ. I've had a few astral experiences that seem to be like being in a movie and everthing is very bright and vivid.

somehow i can easily tell the difference between an obe, lucid dream, and a dream
its either the sight of it or just the feeling of it..ive only had about 3 lucid dreams and for me they were just like an obe but not as real, but still more real then a dream

I think I'm just getting old, or having different expectations.  About verification, I have to find the link as I have told them in the past.
Here's one, but not the good one: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/index.php?topic=22187.msg189367#top  I'll go back and look some more.
Found another one: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/index.php?topic=22160.msg188816#msg188816

They are almost real...
For example, I'll be walking around the house and everything will seem as it always is...then I'll find the fireplace ablaze in one corner of the room...when there isn't even a fireplace.  :-P

The thing that I always notice immediately is there are these subtle vein-like clouds swimming around...a very shear fog. But I think it's just some kind of life in the air that ordinarily cannot be seen.

WindGod

I'd say a mix of all the selections, a moving slider between top to bottom.

In my obvious dreams, there is always a theme, I have a mission,  objective, or task that is only logical within the context of the dream reality. On waking, I instantly recognize that it was a dream.

My lucid dreams are recognized before waking, and then involve rapid switching to various dream scenes.

The other experiences are more like spontaneously visiting and observing a location and noticing other people there. The odd thing is that in the past I've felt that the experience was very real, and I was rational, but my vision was not perfectly clear, as if I needed glasses, or my vision wasn't fully developed, or perhaps my memory of the visual part was incomplete. It would be like wearing your dark sun-glasses in the house, it's real, but the vision is lacking. (I'm taking Adrian's advice on thinking "full clarity now" in practice)

On the other hand, once, I guess I was on some kind of futuristic space station orbiting a planet, sitting at a small dining table in the lobby, looking out at space through large windows. Everything was actually shinny and very polished chrome like metal. In this scene, my vision was far superior to anything I've ever experienced. A friend showed me an object, and I could zoom my vision in on it as if I had microscopic vision, then I could zoom out at will.

Today was a combination of everything. The one common thing that ties in any lucid sleep experience is the buzzing vibration state. That is as real as anything. I'm fully conscious and awake so to speak, but the body is asleep.

I was dreaming of walking on a road, the wind picked up to hurricane strength and I started to lift off the ground.

Next thing, I've got the vibrations and I'm fully conscious, and I get a flash of looking down at my body on the bed. Like an overhead bedroom aerial shot, lol. The vibrations were still on, and I was happy to try continuing, but instead I returned to body awareness and woke up.

good thread, all the comments are very interesting, thanks.

did you have the oportunity to verify if your obes are real? have u made any tests?
I love you!

jalef

i veryfied my experiences only once but thats enough for me. i voted for the second option that they are like reality itself. but i must admit that there is a downward trend during the projections for me: it starts very real and the longer im out the more it becomes like a dream. quite constant at a good level was only the latest projection...

I thought I had an opportunity the other day. While trying to meditate, I suddenly found myself sitting at a desk facing a wall that had an art poster with a slogan written in bold black text on the lower boarder. (My desk faces a window with blinds).
I felt very lucid as I was continuing the meditation exercise and trying not to get too excited. For some reason I took for granted that the poster was there and I failed to make a mental note of what the writing said.

If I had remembered the writing, I could have asked around or even the forum about the poster text . Who knows, I could have been accidentally, spontaneously sitting at someone else's desk.

Instead, I tried the idea of focusing on a feature in the room, and made a detailed examination of the wall paint!

To develop skills of observation for the purposes of verifying a remote vision I imagine takes some training or guidance unless you just naturally have the talent.

Then again, how important is it to devote attention to techniques to verify these experiences with"reality"?
You might miss something by messing around. Kind of like standing at the bus-stop and taking notes of all the features of the bus, then ending up missing the bus so to speak.

For the guys interested on lucid dreaming vs obes threads this may help.

The poll says that more than 50% feel their obes as being something so real (or even more) like reality itself, not like a dream. Hope that it may hel on someway.

Btw, 27 person answered the poll so far. Do not stop from participating :)
I love you!

I wanted to resurrect this thread because of an on going question I have about OBE clarity. I hope a few will take the time out to vote and post your opinions.
