I read about it on another website.
You basically just wait until you're really, really tired, then lay down and stare at a spot on the ceiling until you can't stay awake. Then you close your eyes and imajine the view you were just looking at.Imajine it as clearly as possible. If you are tired enough, and are concentrating enough, your astral sight will awaken.
I tried it just once, and all of a sudden the view sprang before my astral eyes.I said "Oh!" to myself, and it dissappeared.
Are you sure this wasn't some sort of after image?
How long could you see it?
Gazing can be done while awake as well. It's a simple vision shift.
Have you ever used the Roshack Drawings (ink blot stuff)? The shift in vision is very much the same. You can even use the 'unfocusing on the dots' as an exercise in training your eyes to do this.
Once you can hold the unfocus, look at your surroundings this way. Things will seem slightly different, and soon you will see things that are not seen with the eyes focused.
I do use this to see in dreaming and find it works quite well for me. I'm not sure how well it would work for others.
The main thing is to hold the unfocus and be able to view 180 degrees, you can see 'nothing & everything'...it's very interesting.
i will have to use your seying technique tonight.
Have fun with it :)
This can sometimes take a bit of practice. Some folks can get it right away, and some find it takes up to a few weeks to get the hang of.

Definately not an after image-I only saw darkness for about 5-10 seconds, and then It was just a FLASH,and there it was.It startled me so much that it dissappeared.
Afterimages aren't that clear-The image was clearer, and a little more colorful than my physical sight.

I use that technique when I'm walking sometimes.I try to focus my peripheral vision, looking at everything, but nothing in particular.

Ah :)
I'm documenting alot of content from these boards and I just want to make sure it's worth investigating as there's alot of stuff to sift through.
I'll add this to my daily practice then.
I do that unfocus thing a lot, mostly while zoning out. Once had it so that I was completely able to see everything in my periphial vision while walking when I wasn't even trying, it kind of just happened all of a sudden. I remember feeling very odd when it was happening, because everything seemed so much clearer and because of that, made it seem that I could see much more than I could normally.
