Hi,
Learning to OBE.
When you want to OBE to the Etheric dimension (near Astral) do you put your physical body to sleep first or just lie down and exit with the physical body still in an awake state ?
Thanks
In my view and a past experience, you need sleep (paralysis) for your physical body to do this when you want to see your body.
But there are instances of OBEs when the body was more awake iirc. E.g. Remote Viewer McMoneagle claimed to have gone OBE while awake during missions as a soldier in danger situations.
I've read about some marathon runners seeing themselves suddenly from outside while still running (but it is also a state of trance).
From this I would conclude that when this happens while not in sleep paralysis (voluntarily or not ) you are not in a 'normal' awake state but in a kind of different focussed or even trance-like 'awake' state.
Both is possible. But to project while physically awake is more difficult
Mind awake-body asleep is excellent for this. But, it can take quite a wile to achieve, especially for a someone new to Astral Projection. Some nights I can achieve it quite quickly, other nights it's a good hour/hour and half before I find success. I think it really matters how long it takes to be able to "turn off" your day and totally relax into it.
I use a technique akin to Vessen's VEA, Fred Aardema's (Major Tom) Vigil Method, (both of which you can find on this Forum here), that will lead to a RTZ exit as well. So will my own technique that can be found in the "Phantom Wiggle" thread.
My Phasing techniques don't though. With those I just visualize a simple object, like a spinning top, burning flame, until the simple scene begins to take on it's own life, then I just "meld" into the scenario at hand. Sometimes while attempting this technique I can find myself in a "dual reality" situation. Whereas I am seeing there, but still hearing and feeling here.
Now achieving spontaneous Sleep Paralysis by using a pre-nap technique will always lead to a RTZ zone experience for me. (Bedeekin, a former member here created a good pre-nap technique called "Bedeekin's Method".) At least that is at first. I exit the body in the RTZ and then when I get on the other side of my patio window, I find myself "elsewhere", in some new realm. This is the way it works for me though. But I seem to be led or pulled out when I find myself in SP.
Like Volgerle said though there have been many reports and instances of people having spontaneous OBEs during traumatic events, deep focus in their sports training and just a leisurely hiking trip. These instances are few and far between, but they still occurred for those people.
