About 3 months ago I was fed up with astral projection (or trying to, without much success) so I decided to do some research on techniques and came across a mantra. The mantra was "Fa Ra On". I laid down to meditate in the late evening. After about 10 minutes of chanting the mantra and breathing I hace very strong vibrations surging all over my body, stronger than I have ever felt before. my eyes were closed and I was in a dark room, yet I started to see patterns spinning. I got freaked out, got up, and tried to get back there but haven't since. I feel like I came very close to projecting, and have attempted to duplicate this experience to no avail. Help please.

First, realize that the "words" you say aren't too important... it's the "intent" you put behind the words that is of utmost importance.

Secondly, it sounds like you've stumbled upon what we call "Focus 12".

Give this a read... it's something I wrote up regarding a couple awesome posts that run by the Focus 12 state and describe it really well.  :)

How many months were you practicing altogether??
Because it took me 7 months until I had success.  And even then, the success has been minimal.

IOW keep practicing and dont give up

Thanks Xanth, about to check out your site right now. =D

Fresco, when this took place, I believe I had been trying to Astral project for about several months.... However it was more of a curiosity, I wasn't practicing as much as i am today, with meditation, and binaural beats. it was mostly a curiosity that led me to do alot of research on it. also this is when i was experimenting with a certain shamanic herbal potion, and if i was doing that i might try to put my intent towards projecting, but so far i haven't had a projection i was aware of and could control.

One more question while I have your attention, since I don't wanna flood the forum with topics. If I listen to a binaural beat for the astral projection frequency every day for at least an hour will this make it any easier? I've heard that there's an astral body, and like the physical body if you don't work it out it atrophies. So would listening to these beats, as well as meditating help work out my astral muscles?

Tiny

I think you're probably summoning ancient Anunnaki gods, if i were you i'd stay with personal energy work.

kind regards,

Paul

Ok, I'll bite...

Tiny, why do you believe he's "probably summoning ancient Anunnaki gods"?

because it's egyptian and you wouldn't want to meet Ra i'm sure.

I've heard people who did summon some and they ended up getting tortured by invisible forces and had aparitions appear in the rooms.

Suffice to say, uhsumdumboy, I don't think you need to fear Ra or any other god really.  :)

As I mentioned before, it's not really the words that are important (unless you believe them to be), but the intent behind them.
You could easily repeat "I eat mu-shu" and if you had the same intent placed behind those words as you did when you were saying "fa ra on", it'd have the same effect.

In any case, do what you feel you need to in order to project... as it's your own subconscious mind you need to work with.  :)

Thanks again for all the feedback. That was very interesting Xanth, the information on the website you posted.

I am convinced that certain mantras composed of vowel sounds may actually correspond with certain chakras, because everything is vibration and using vocal sounds produce vibrations in the body. Say Om/Aum and you can feel it resonate on the third eye. Say Ham and you can feel it in the throat chakra. I know this from when I used to use a chakra balancing technique in my meditation. If anyone is interested and requests I could post the website where I found it which has the full tech and mantra for each individual chakra center.

Uhsumdumboy,

Please read my sticky topic "why I can't project" at
http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_projection_experiences/why_cant_i_project_invisiblelight_book_reference_for_beginner_to_advance-t28924.0.html

I have done so much in the lines of chakras, crystals, energy work, mantras etc.. til I am blue in the face. I am not saying that these didn't have positive effects and assisted along the to being able project. However, it all comes down to is pure iron will to project. Finding the way and sticking with it vs throwing in the towel. Now, reading your first msg you gave in and months later tried reciting the vowels etc.. Had the vibrations, energy flowing through you and didn't complete a successful exit. It in itself is accomplishment and did a good job.. Almost there...

Notice that all this took place in the trance state MWBS mind wake body asleep.. What you did is watch yourself fall to sleep with recitation. It wouldn't matter if you said the ABC's, or sing your favorite song during this time. This is what you need to focus on and stick to it.

Also, there won't be over night success. It takes hard disciplined work and consistency. Think about it as training for the olympics. Never give up!

Good job and keep up the work.. You will get there..

Dave

Fresco,

Do you honestly think that research, reading, educating yourself, taking time with journals, statistics, being patient when the chance comes is not part of the picture?  If so, then you are on the right course towards projecting. Otherwise, this is something that is not a overnight success and there is NO magic pills.

I hope that I don't come off sounding rude or condescending but in all honestly it all takes time. Reading, educating yourself and taking slow steps to success. This is what the forums are for and the on-line community. Sure there is a lot of posts to go through but it is well worth reading and learning from others who are successful or first starting out.

You have a whole lifetime of reading, practicing to do and it just does not end when you have a few OBES under your belt. You keep it going and before you strengthen that ability to project weekly. You keep on educating by reading different religions, near death experiences, performing research, running the whole gambit.

I say this not just to you but to everyone what 'IT REALLY TAKES' to be a consistent projector.

Hope this helps...:)

@ D. Warner

No, what I meant was the actual meditation part is time-consuming.
I literally have to lie still for 45 minutes before I notice some kind of body separation.  I'm a very energetic guy, lying still is not something I'm good at

I agree with rest of your post though, you have have to give it a serious effort if you want results

That part will be vastly reduced with "time" and "practice".

The point is that, eventually, "lying still" will be something that you're good at.  Just keep at it... it does take a lot of determined time and effort to do it properly and quickly, but you CAN do it.  :)

I'd like to get to the point where the Buddhist monks do it, they lie still for 5 minutes and boom they're out.  That would be amazing.

Also I heard those guys can stay out for days at a time

CFTraveler

After many years of sitting in meditative trance for hours at a time.  So be glad it's only 45 minutes.

Xanth

It's funny, cause I was watching some more Thomas Campbell videos yesterday and he was saying stuff that I really already knew to be true.
He was talking about "meditation" and how everything we do about it is all ritual for the end result of being able to "listen to yourself".  And how you get there... for example, all of our ritual involved with finding the appropriate time, and quiet atmosphere along with maybe some music or some people do energy raising too... it's all just RITUAL designed to focus your intent towards your goal.

Well... in the end, it's all really meaningless.  If you can learn to focus your intent without all of that ritual, THAT is where it really begins.  Then you can meditate anytime, anywhere, in any noise, in any situation!  And he's 100% right... you can literally go through your entire day, 24 hours of meditation.

I can see how this relates to the non-physical too... because what we do constantly in the physical usually starts to come across into our non-physical life as well (aka dreams).  So if you're always in a meditative state during your waking life, this will start to happen more and more in your non-physical life as well... and it will manifest in ways in the non-physical which you probably can't even realize right now.

Anyway, just food for thought.  :)

Stookie

I agree Ryan. Here's what I have to add:

I'll admit that at first, meditation was kinda boring and difficult. But with practice and experience, I can promise you it won't be. It's a joy to do it on a daily basis - it's like spiritual food you have to eat. If your one and only goal is to have an OBE, it's probably harder to enjoy the process. That's why I tell people, relax and enjoy being relaxed, find a way to enjoy the whole process from beginning to end. Do exercises that are meaningful to you.

And it's not just the daily experience, but the entire changes that take place in your life, from being more aware of your surroundings and thoughts and feelings, to higher level of concentration and discipline you acquire over time. That discipline starts to spill out into other areas of life as well. And as you notice this stuff start to happen naturally, there's no question where it comes from, and you have to get your daily dose of spiritual food. Then it's no longer boring or a chore, it's a chosen lifestyle that you take pride in it.
