Title: Too Tired?
Post by: smooth on November 01, 2006, 22:36:20
Well im a very busy person. I wake up at 6 am school till 230- 3-8 i have work. When i get out of work i have h/w and other things that i have to take care of. This is what i do every day. So when i go to bed, i pretty much pass out. There isnt nothing that will wake me up. I try to ap but i fall asleep every time.

Anything you can recommend doing that might help me out?

visualize being somewhere, if you fall asleep that quickly, you will only have to keep your attention on that visualization for a few seconds. If you can do this, it will most likely result in a lucid dream, and you can obe from there if u know how.

I think your best bet is to go to sleep around 10 PM if possible, and to set an alarm around 4 AM, and do your OBE attempts then.

The main issue is that the body is begging to go idle, so when you are really tired, you'll just go inactive. It takes a lot of conditioning to muster up the willpower to be active during the sleep state. That's just one barrier that is common to everyone, and it's much easier to overcome it when you are in a drowsy but not critically sleepy state.

Hello smooth:

Try this technique:

Since you already dream at night (whether you remember it or not), you won't be taking up any extra time :)

Good luck,

Smooth,

Thats a tough one and I understand exactly where you are coming from. Back in my college days, it was crazy, school, lab, study, work and the everyday repetitiveness. A lot of times on my lunch break at school, I would sequeeze in time and take a nap for an hour and a half. I scheduled this ahead of time when i was taking classes, so that I know this would be a opportunity to project.

What the others said previous are excellent ideas, about going to bed earlier, setting the clock to wake you up at random times. I would also like to add - try to incorporate some sort of tracking spreadsheet for your dreams, obes. Also, during the day if there is a task you constantly repeat use it as a exercise.

Ex: If I am jogging, I will repeat over and over "I will become lucid in my dream tonight" or "1-2-3-4 I will astral project some more". Eventually, this type of programming will slowly drift into your sub-conscious.

Hope this helps!

It might also help to be focused on what you do during the day. I like to try to do one thing at the time, and be concentrated on that.
This way you build up concentration, and will have an easier time being concentrated when doing your astral practice. It can also make your dreams clearer, as you would start daydreaming less when in the astral.

Best of luck to you  :-)

make a right angle with your arm, so that that half is on the bed and half is in the air. that way, if you're about to fall aslweep, your arm will fall down, waking you up again.

Learn "yoga nidra", Yoga Nidra means yogic sleep so if you do that everytime you want to take a nap, you will wake up refreshed.

google "Yoga Nidra" and you will find techniques to do it. very simple but effective.

do you think that you can try AP on the weekends or are you also busy then?

Smooth, do you work on the weekends as well?

If you don't work at the weekend, then that would obviously be a good time to practice, as you probably wouldn't be feeling so tire, although you'd probably want to practice more than two days a week.

Maybe you could drink some coffee before going to bed? Not a huge amount, that will keep you awake for ages, but maybe a small amount of mild coffee that might stop you going to sleep for 45 minutes or so?

there is always that alarm method...since you always crash at night

periodically time your alarm to go off at a few points during sleep...so you don't have to physically set it each time...and preferably that you don't have to turn it off--rather it just beeps a couple times.

You want to have to worry/think about it as less as possible yet have it be enough to bring about your awareness.  Generally it will just wake you up for the first few times, but after awhile of being used to it waking you up, you'll keep on the verge of being awake yet alseep, which is ideal for projeciton :)
