well do you try to visualize these things or FEEL these techniques?  I personally "push" on my consciessness...that always gets me there pretty quickly, though not as deep as Id like.  The other is to make yourself FEEL like you are the size of your room....
huge, forever expanding.

hope that helps!!

cheers

Hello Willoc
The technique I was given by a member on the forums (D.B) is to breath in to the count of 4 hold for two and breath out for the count of four. This is a simple exercise. With this I'm able the stay focussed while counting and the between breaths are silent, using my heart beat as a guide. I've noticed my body drops in stages without using visualization to aid my progress.
Good luck

ya know its pretty easy when ya get right down to it, its about relaxing your mind and making it still for about 5 minutes after that youll get the hang of it, i use the technique of staring into space (not literally) but to day dream when you realize your day dreaming just try thinking of nothing and just stare, this happens to me automatically i have no clue why but it does, when i am at a restaurant or in a really big room i just kind of find an unusual thing like a nail in a board, something noone would have anyinterest in, but when i do that i cant look away for some reason its like somethings hold me back and it kinda puts me in a trance, its really wierd but i wish you good luck on the whole trance thing, youll get the hang of it.

SIMPLE WAY THAT WORKS...

Get into a confrotable position, get really relaxed. I listen to a radio show and think about other things to keep my mind awake. Just keep your mind awake and your body asleep. It takes around 35-50 minuets for me...If you dont have patience than its not your method!

Thanks everyone. If you don't see a technique you use here, please post it.  I wanna try every technique thats works for other people.  Would help a lot of people for sure [^].

I have tried keeping my mind awake using techniques such as that, but in the end I still use up too much mental energy and don't fall into the hypnagogic state (after 3-4 hours pass I just give up and then fall asleep).  Since I stare at the curves of a wall heater a lot and watch a lot of T.V, trance might be my best way to focus away from the physical.

About the trance exercises.. how do you imagine yourself falling?

Could you imagine your bed is falling with you and you are "sinking" into it kinda (without visualizing anything)?  And you just keep your thought process on that and eventually you will feel yourself sink into a state that you know you can induce the vibrations from?

Hello everyone,

Some of you may know me but for those that don't Im call (Hypnotist) Certified.
Imgoing to post a fast technique that you can use.

______________________________________________________________________

                DAVE ELMAN'S RAPID TECHNIQUE

The basis of this technique is eye fatigue, which is produced very rapidly.  The old methods of achieving eye fatigue were accomplished by having the subject look upward at an object for several minutes.  As the eyes follow movements, they dart and jump from one spot to another.  With the Rapid Technique the eyes follow the motion of the hypnotist's hand in an even, steady path, tiring very quickly.  What used to take several minutes can now be achieved in seconds, the results being the same if not better.  Before the Rapid Technique, widespread use of medical hypnosis was limited, due to the length of time required to achieve eye fatigue.  The use of this method can reduce inductions by 25 to 30 minutes.  The Rapid Technique has opened many new opportunities for the use of hypnosis in all fields of medicine.

Have your subject assume a sitting or lying down position.  Hold your hand open, palm facing the subject at eye level, about three or four inches from his face.  Tell him to focus his  his attention on the bottom of your palm, keeping his head still, and to follow your hand only with his eyes.  Lift your hand slowly until your subject is straining to look up.  Say:  "Feel those muscles tugging ... pulling ... and straining."

Then slowly lower your hand, suggesting: "Now follow the hand down.  As you do, your eyes will automatically close."

When the hand passes the eyes, say, "Now close the eyes."

The subject would already be closing his eyes at that time, and the suggestion adds strength.  If the eyes don't close, suggests again.

"Now close the eyes.  Just let those eyes relax.  Let the muscles around the eyes relax.  Relax them to a point where they won't open.  Relax them".

"Relax the muscles so they just won't work.  When you're sure they won't, test them and make sure they won't.  They are so relaxed".

Treat this method in the same manner as any eye-challenge.  Do not let the subject try to for too long.  If your subject opens his eyes, tell him they were not relaxed enough.  Now they will be more relaxed.  Then repeat the Rapid Technique.

If your subject's eyes open before you bring him up, say to him.  "Close your eyes and relax."  Use the same manner and tone as for your other suggestions.  This way, your subject will not suspect that something is wrong, land he will believe that this is part of the normal procedure.  This entire process should take approximately 60 seconds.  Continue with any further deepening techniques.  I have found this technique very useful when working to achieve glove anesthesia that can be used with some medical
procedures.

Try the one on this thread:

The author of it claims it is good for OBEing, but I found it was the easiest way to go into a deep and stable trance. Could not OBE from it, though.

I find that what works best (as I stated above) is to FEEL not try to visualize.  Felel yourself falling, feel yourself presing into your bed, or feel yourself, your awareness, expand to the size of your room.  Works well for me!!

it helps me when to trance when i shut my eyes and look up as far as i can. then think about projecting, or whatever your doing
live forever or die trying

What I do is concentrate on my heartbeat till i can really feel it.
I find this puts me in a trance or near sleep state quite quickly

Then I direct the heartbeat to my forhead(where the 3rd eye should be)once it starts throbbin i visualize a i pipe coming out more and more each time as it beats.

Then I try to visualize my astral body attached to this pipe going more and more up it as my 3rd eye pulsates. I just thought i'd share this.

And no i haven't projected yet, everytime i start to get out i loose focus[V]but i'm workin on it[:D]

It seems to me that the biggest problem in achieving the trance state is an overactive mind. All the tecniques in the world will not help if you cant simply calm your mind. What I suggest to you is that you find the tecnique you like the most, one you can do easily and comfortably without too much mental exertion (this is why breathing exercises are so good: simplicity) and practice it in a relaxed but alert fashion. If you have trouble with falling asleep try different positions: sitting, kneeling, whatever's comfortable. Preferably not something mentaly asociated with sleep such as your bed or when your tiered like late at night.
  In my opinion it is best to set the tecnique as kind of a mental back drop. Loosly aware of it but not concentrating too hard on it. Then from this point you need to let go. Its hard to explain but easy to do. You just kind of feel in your mind all the energy and turmoil and thoughts and rather than trying to control it just relax into it. Once you have done this your mind kind of loses momentum and calms itself.
  Its kind of the mental equivilent of kicking your boots off and falling back into a lazy boy. Like saying awe bonk it and letting it all go.
  The key as I said is finding a tecnique that is easy and comfortable for you to do without over straining the brain . Sometimes it helps me if I invent my own tecniques, it doesn't have to be written before you can do it.
  The biggest inhibiter of trance is control the more you try to control it the worse off you'll be. The same goes with life in general. Notice how all the tecniques are focused towards relaxing and the final result is an opening of the mind? How can all this be acheived if the entire time youre straining and sweating and thinking to yourself oh excrement its not working!

well I hope that helps
Just relax!

Delta waves music work really good. Within seconds you can feel you body melting away. You should have no problem APing from that state aslong as you can stay fully aware.

Or you could just use your mind to change your brain waves.

Alpha=relaxation

Theta=Meditation

Delta=sleep

hypnotist, how are you supposed to do the eye thing to yourself? Use your own hand?

Do you have to speak the suggestions to yourself in your head?

my problem is staying "conscious" i can shut MY mind off but then my "subconscious" won't shut up, and the more it goes on, the deeper I get... so if I don't think at all, then I drift in and out, but I lose consciousness and basically fall partially asleep then jolt awake.

now if i try to keep my mind awake, i can't get that deep, becuase i'm thinking, in order to keep it awake i pretty much have to be thinking.

and if i get deep then start thinking, i can't keep it up for very long becuase my mind is partially asleep and tired.

so i theorize that i'm bypassing alpha and trying to jump into theta, and that is why i get the jerks... becuase I mean.. I never feel relaxed.. as soon as I jolt awake I'm extremely uncomfortable, and I stay that way the entire time, til I begin to lose consciousness

but i never hit that nice relaxed "i could melt and stay here forever" feeling like I get if my stupid alarm goes off and I don't want to get up and I feel wonderfully groggy.

i think that is the alpha state.. and I think I'm somehow bypassing it.

Could people tell me their most effective ways of getting into a trance?  I tried the ones in the treatise but they aren't my forte.  The ones in the treatise were the "going down the ladder," "floating down like a feather," and "going down an elevator" techniques.  Thanks.
