in my opinion theres no quick way to stop this problem you simply just get better at maintaining the trance state the more you do it. Its just down to focus, awareness and concentration.
you could try holding your forearm at a 90 degree angle to your body (if you lie down that is) to jolt you awake if you drift off. i never had the patience for this though.
