Title: Trouble relaxing my eyes..
Post by: Logic on February 22, 2004, 13:01:35
Try using a warm damp cloth or rag and laying it over your eyes, this should relax them and stop them from opening. I find that whenever I dont use it I tend to strain my eyes alot and eventually get headaches.

I take it you can relate to my problem.
Do you mean applying the cloth before the projection attempt, or actually having the cloth over my eyes during the projection?

Hi featus,

This will help relax your eyes.  First as you lay down I want you to keep your head completely still, then slowly move your eyes upward just above your eyebrows.

Then pick a spot on the ceiling and find a mark on the ceiling or a crack anything on the ceiling if not just put a piece of tape on the ceiling slightly past your head as you look up.

Just look at it without taking your eyes off of it.  You will notice your eye lids becoming heavy and tired in a few seconds or a minute you will want to close them. When it feels like you cant keep them open thats when you close them.  Then say to yourself in your mind.

"Just let those eyes relax.  Let the muscles around the eyes relax.  Relax them to a point where they won't open.  Relax them.  Relax the muscles so they just won't work.  When you're sure they won't, test them and make sure they won't.  They are so relaxed".

At this point very slowly try to open them and you will find they wont open they are so Relax'd that you dont want to open them they are so relax'd.

Give this a try and e-mail me of your results.

Sincerely,
Frank (hypnotist)

Cool, thanks for the tips guys. :)

I'm in an internet cafe at the moment; I'll try it when I get home tonight. I'll give you a shout with my progress, hypnotist; cheers for that.

I tried the towel technique last night. It's quite annoying though, because although my eyes didn't open I could actually feel the towel covering my face which made me aware of my head more than usual.
I actually kept the towel over my eyes during the projection, and after two unsuccessful attempts, I can still say that I made better progress. I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of time now, and I feel myself getting more confident after every attempt..

Btw logic, I like the seven sided star. Are you a fan of Tool by any chance?

Yes, I'm a huge Tool fan. The septegram (7-sided star) comes from lots of different places and means lots of different things

Yeah I know, but for me it evokes particular memories of what was quite possibly the best concert I have ever went to. :)

Nice to know people people share an appreciation of truly great music. And given the theme of this forum, their lyrical content, not to mention their videos and ambience, is very appropriate.

Thumbs up! :)

Hi all,

First of all I just want to say that I have never (consciously) projected. I have had two experiences which would fall under the category of an OOBE, but one of them happened before the word projection was even in my vocabulary and the other one happened spontaneously in the early hours of one fine morning.
However, since joining this forum I have made serious progress. Maybe this is partly due to the fact that it made me realise that OOBEs were quite real and accessible, and consequently this boosted my confidence.
But also I have to thank all of you for your methods and suggestions that I found so useful. I  found this method to be particularly effective (http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5205) with all due credit to omega. I highly recommend it to everyone, especially astral rookies, like myself.

Last night I got as close as I have ever gotten to projecting. The vibrations were intense and I felt as though I could move my hands, even though I was lying perfetly still. A recurring problem that I seem to have though, is with relaxing my eyes. When I get close to projecting, my eyelids start to tense, twitch and half-open, which makes me aware that I actually am lying in my bed and ruins the attempt. If I make any special effort to tighten them and keep them shut, I become increasingly aware of my head and face, and this decreases vibrations and I have to start over as well.
What do you think I should do? Is it a good idea to use a scarf or something to blindfold myself? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks guys
