Unawarely Leaving Body By Accident?

Sometimes when trying to fall asleep, not after attempting a Projection, OBE or any relaxing methods at all, I'll suddenly just.. snap back. (From where, I don't know) And it'll feel like I drop onto my mattress, into my body, then shift very intensely a few times until my astral body is re-alligned with my physical body.

My eyes are closed every time, so I don't know if I'm floating above my body without realising, or if I am starting to project without noticing, and I just snap out of it and get this feeling. I'm usually thinking about nothing, and as soon as I start to think, I snap back. Or, I'll be kind of daydreaming (at night ;)), then suddenly think of where I am, and it'll happen.

Ever happen to you?
What do you think it is?

You are coming back to yourself with no memory of where you were except for the last little bit of the experiance. Its pretty common until you practice your recall more...Spend some more time while in the twilight zone between falling asleep and waking up study the experiances and if you can when you wake up dont move at all. Than try and picture what just happened with more clarity.

It happens to me 95% of the time when trying to take a mid-day nap, except I've actually been able to pin-point why that has been happening me.

I get pretty vivid HI before I fall asleep, but I cannot fall asleep in the middle of the day unless I have a really messed up sleep cycle. So, because I kind of sit in the HI state for much longer than when I go to sleep, my focus ends up completely shifting to that area as well. I'll be on the brink on unconciousness for maybe a minute or two, and I'll really start getting into the HI. I'll pretty much be non-lucid, and then I'll try to move an arm (unconciously) to take part of this HI as if it were a dream, and then my physical arm will shudder, causing my whole body to shudder, making it feel like I was "snapped back".

Though I also have come to believe you don't actually leave your body and travel the physical world... to me it's more like your conscience or focus or whatever being snapped back to physical reality from where ever it was.

Though I can't say I have "shift very intensly a few times". It's more like the initial shock that makes me snap out of it right away.

This is why I only attempt AP/WILDs in the morning, because Sleep-Paralysis takes care of this problem :)

Naps and the morning are great times. It sounds to me like you just need to have Intent. Keep yourself in that state beyond the minute or two. You will after a bit be able too work your way into a dream of whatever you thought about while in the "twilight". Or just fall asleep with intent to have your concious self there. Its tough. If you really want to get down to it. Read The art of dreaming by Carlos Castaneda. I feel that you may be in a good spot for that book. It will help with the reality and help you to see that there are more physical worlds like our own. And also dream worlds. All it takes is a slight movement of the assemblage point and you will slip from one reality to the next. But trust me each one is as real as the one you go to work or school in.

I find it quite fascinating that you mentioned Carlos Castaneda.  A couple weeks back I did a quick meditation on an issue I was having.  After my mind branched in a few directions I had the urge to say, mentally...'you were.... carlos castaneda'  The name was very mumbled.. I had a definate Carlos, and -astineta.. sounding name.  However, I quickly came upon him during a quick google search.  I found very little that night, however found that he did some writing...and on Don Juan?  I forget...nothing else came of that night except I would later remember this name.
Anyhow, I did not realize he wrote such a book, and perhaps I may be in a good spot for that book as well!! haha
So yes, Thanks for the post, Enoch :)

No problem man...My first awake out of body experiance occured while i was reading the art of dreaming. It has opened many doors for me. Ive posted about the experiance at obe discussions.
