OBE "3- step plan"...

The first two are easy for me. It is the third which stops me every time. No matter how vividly I imagine being somewhere outside of my body, even just extending hands to climb rope, my awareness remains stronger within my body. Maybe there is something about exteriorizing awareness which I have been misunderstanding.

I can imagine all three are important. I don't do Step One thoroughly enough.
Step Two seems easy when you're very tired or relaxed--but otherwise not. I have a problem though with Step Three...can't seem to keep the 'climbing rope' visualization steady enough. I get to the 'humming' and the 'fluttering' symptoms in my chest and the race of electricity up my torso but the heavy vibrations never start (and then you have the $#%& salesmen that call in the middle of the day and break up everything).

The problem with rope for me,I get way too many sensations in my physical body when pulling it,almost like I am glued to myself.I can never lose track of my body with it.

Sounds like I have the same prob as Tom with it.

Im having better luck now just using my imagination.Like imagining something I do often.Or something like Frank describes in his wave one posts.

Just keep pushing the imagination(1st person),without trying so hard. You dont have to see it all clearly. You will start to feel less and less of your body.Ive not yet projected  like this.I think I need alot more practice with it.All my projections happen  when im a bit tired.I can easier go to that place between sleep and awake.

Thats like a one step plan right there.http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_wink.gif" border=0>All other techniques ive tried only made me more aware of my body.I got frustrated with them and just tried to have obes  when going to sleep.Short naps work well for me.

This is my working method:
Its not from a full waking state,But sometimes I do catch the whole exit.I dont see how it would be any diff.Other times I become aware in the middle of one.Or from a lucid dream,I just take off and leave the dream behind.http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

Whether im still in the lucid  dream environment or not does not really matter much to me.They are all good fun.

I just go to bed or where ever(sleeps on the couch at times) and I always have a desire to project.Even during my day I think it is there.

And its Almost like I know in the back of my mind that eventually it will happen.Without having a need for it to happen.

Sometimes I get a few of them in one night,Sometimes I get nothing.I think it all depends on how tired I am.And how long I actually stay in the hypnogogic state beforehand.I do  some energy raising while in it sometimes,or before I go to bed.Always keep my mind clear, without forcing thoughts away.

And something I read in another of Franks post.Helped me project the other night. Was to let your concious drift up towards your brow chakra.

What I did was I woke up and didnt move.Luckily I was on my back.I created a falling awareness action. And it was like someone took the bed from underneath me.I slowly looked upward behind my closed eyes, focused on the brow and it started to vibrate like mad.Almost instant astral vision, than I was out.

Good luck, and I hope I didnt make it too confusing for yah..

Its all soooooo simple in theory!
The problem is actually getting it to happen!
Maybe you need to add, Persistance and Patience!
C'est la vie.

I think there is also a force-maybe the astral wind-that wants to drag us out. I have noticed times when I constantly get awakened by the vibes(last night it must have hit me 8 times, with 2 decent obe's). Other times it seems impossible, I cannot really think that I am doing anything that different, just that there are some cycles that make it easier-definately the moon phase. From now to right after the full moon would be prime time to attempt obe.

I'm with you on step one- putting the body to sleep. I achieve this by meathod of actually falling to sleep. At night.

I skip over steps 2 and 3 completly.

I don't ever remember leaving my body, nor do I do any techniques.  I just happen to find myself there.

The only helpful things I use are a dinging bell, or pinging of water dripping. That and being hot and uncomfortable will rouse me out of my body.

Really I think it comes down to putting you body to sleep and waking up your consious mind. Two steps.

Leyla, you are one of the lucky ones then I reckon´...  and what you are describing isn´t really conciously inducing one, at least not as far as I see it..
... you are more like, how should I put..  setting up certain conditions (that works for you) to increase the chances of having a spontaneous OBE, which you obviously get pretty easy and frequently - not many are that blessed...  so skipping "2&3" isn´t an option for most of us I guess.

See you out there sometime, cheers...   //Rikard

.. heya, I am wondering if I missed something here, or if it as "simple" as this to project, here goes, very cut down and brief, no details;

1) Deep, deep physical relaxation... putting the body "asleep".
2) Clearing the Surface Mind from (random) thoughts.
3) Exteriorising body awareness (using for example the popular rope technique to put pressure on the projectable double and trigger the projection reflex).

I have left out things like energy work etc, but the above 3 steps is only "things" one need to succeed with to be able to project - right?

I believe it can be very helpful to have a clear understanding of the basic skills absolutley needed to project, so this might be helpful primarily to beginners coming here, overwhelmed with all theories, techniques and information - and might think they´ll never be able to learn all that...

Perhaps someone thinks that number 3 isn´t absolutley needed, but let us speak what is needed for the vast majority under this topic.
