Every time i actually get somewhere while practicing i noticed that i was listening to music, and sometimes it was relaxing music and other times it was just regular rock. But i read that listening to music isn't really a good idea because it can 'wake' you up while in a trance and stuff. But yea when i listen to music i actually get so far as separating my body but I've never exited and stuff but do you think i should start meditating in silence? or do you think that music just works for me and i should continue with it? Do any of you find that music helps?

Do whatever works for you.
The problem with 'should's and 'shouldn'ts' is that most people find that something doesn't work for them, and assume it must not work for anyone.
The truth is, that if a piece of music serves as a meditation tool, it should not cause any problems (except possibly influence what you see, but that may not be  a problem for you).
There are very few things that get in the way- the most important is to be comfortable, not too cold and not too hot, and not too full or not too empty- for the same reason that they tell you not to eat before going to bed- it just makes you uncomfortable.

The rest, is opinion-
IMO, obviously.
