Can someone explain this please?

My first post after introduction and here comes my first question

This is the closest I have been to something I can not explain or have not read about. I sometimes lay down ready to go to sleep and I guess just when I'm about to fall asleep I wake up and I can see my wife and I just know I am conscious but I can't move at all and I hear loud ringing in my ears. Most times I try to fight it and after a while I am able to move but sometimes I just let it happen to see where it leads but I either fall asleep or the ringing goes away.

So I do not know if this is something that is related to OBE or just some sleep phase.

You're experiencing what's called "Sleep Paralysis"... it's generally the precursor to Projecting (leaving your body).
Basically, what happens is that when you fall asleep, your body puts you into a kind of paralysis so you don't go and act out your dreams.

During sleep it's called just that, Sleep Paraylsis.
If achieved during conscious meditation, we call it the Trance State.

In any case... if you ever find yourself in that state again, try one of the many "Exit Techniques" you can find all over these forums.  :)

Question, If while experiencing this I think to myself to project outside my body, is there a possibility it could happen? Or does it have to be through meditation?

No possibility that it would directly cause you to project. However, it might plant the idea in your subconscious which could cause you to project -- eventually.

It doesn't have to happen through meditation, but it can.

You're already partially there. With some practice you could probably get somewhere, maybe even in project within a week or two.

In your situation what you want to do is get back into that sleep paralyzation state where you get the ringing noise in your head. Then focus / think about only about that ringing noise, make it grow louder and louder, higher in pitch / frequency. It should either put you in a deeper trance or take you completely out of your body.

Of course there's more too it than this, but I'd suggest to try it out.

After that I would recommend reading about NEW energy training and learn how to raise your energy before you go to bed. This should give your subconscious a little more control and hopefully prevent the paralysis.
