Vibrations: important or not?

I've read TONS of stuff here on vibrations in relation to OBE, but have yet to come to any decent conclusion on them. It seems that many people don't ever experience them and still OBE. Frank said not to worry about them. But for myself, it's impossible because they get so strong. If I start a mental rundown, eventually the vibrations come in and can't be ignored, which of course breaks my rundown.

I guess my question is: What exactly are these vibrations in relation to OBE?

I've read many different answers to this before, and I'm even more confused. Personally, I use them because it just "feels" like the way I should do it, not because someone told me it's how to OBE.

As I was experiencing them last night I thought that maybe they don't come to me as much as my consciousness is moving towards the vibrations. This is always accompanied by the "pounding heart", last night being no different. But this time I really took the time to feel and experience it, and once I concentrated on the feeling, I realized it was on a different "level" than my heart, and became very soothing, like a massage.

Anyways, I experience these things, but I'm not sure how it all relates. Do many other people have these experiences? The only people that seem to talk about vibrations are people that haven't OBE'd yet.

Unfortunately, I don't have any answers, but I have a story...

Last night, for the first time I felt vibrations and the pounding heart.  :o  I was just sleeping in the middle of the night, and my cat woke me up suddenly, wanting me to play with her.

At first, I was just vexed and was just about to go back to sleep.  But then, I was like... "Hey, I feel funny!"  So I lay really still, and I felt this pulsing all over.  It wasn't a hard, shaking feeling, but rather somewhat gentle.  I felt like my whole body was beating like a heart.  And then I noticed this much faster beating right over my heart.  I knew it wasn't my physical heart, because I didn't feel at all stressed.  I just lay there, taking it in, and it actually felt rather pleasant.  But I was really tired, so I just went back to sleep.  Other than that, nothing remarkable happened.

Maybe I just became aware of them as they were fading away, but it was nothing like I imagined the vibrations to be like, based on what I've heard and read about them.  I used to find the idea very frightening, but what I felt last night was not frightening at all, and I doubt I ever would have noticed the sensations if I hadn't been woken up.  Or could it be that my abrupt waking caused them?

I really don't know the answers.  Consciously, at least, I wasn't aware of being out of body, or trying to get out of body.  When I do project, I do it through phasing, rather than going out of body.  And I've never felt any kind of vibration or heartbeats while practicing my phasing. :?  I hope we can get some kind of answers...

All I know is that the vibrations can be harsh, extremely painful and can really do a number on you. If I could choose every time to skip the part of the vibes that would be a blessing, but I guess you've to take the good with the bad.

AMM - the vibes when you experienced were they light or painful?

I have experienced soothing waves of vibrations and also some excrutiatingly painful vibrations (although not very often). I believe the pain comes from when you have tension in your body where the vibrations concentrate on and become too condensed and cause pain sensations.
Success - It is not the position you stand, but the direction you look

Unison

Ive only experienced them like 2-3x when I first started to practice that stuff. I wouldnt call it vibrations. I would call it sitting next to a jet engine taking off. I remember it sounding so loud and then feeling like I was next to a jet engine. It didnt hurt it was actually really cool. Too bad I dont experience that stuff anymore. It kinda excited me so it ruined the experience. Oh well who knows if it matters or not. Maybe its a step you can skip with more focus or by ignoring it. Idk....

one_each

Lol @ Unison.  A jet engine sounds about right. Lol

Back to the question.  The vibrations are caused by energy movements through you.  Have you ever listened to high voltage transmission (electrical) lines?  They actually move as the electricity moves through them and it makes them buzz.  The same thing is happening to you.

I don't know for sure, but I think as you become accustom to the energy movements, you resist them less.  Since the energy can move easier, you don't notice the vibrations any more.  Unless, of course, you choose to.

Are the vibrations required to OBE/AP?  No.  In fact, the (almost) only time I have ever felt them was when I was trying to feel them.

Unison,

Really enjoyed your analogy of the vibrations - yes, a jet engine blasting with high voltage. I don't get the ringing or buzzing sounds like everyone else does. Mostly, the electricity pounding me - just plain not fun!

One_Each,

Afer 17yrs, the vibrations still suck. plainly put! But I do agree with you after awhile one will not notice the vibes and exits do get better. In other words, get out of the body FAST!

Hey,

I have a Question as well....
I can experience the vibes as well.. it's not to strong, but sometimes I feel my hands move... ore some thing else.... But when Thea come I see wolves looking at me.. as I Me not come up... I use to see wolfs when I was a child, but I never think about it again, and I am not afraid of them either.  At the moment I am treeing to use the technique listen to the heart... I've tried to woke up in my dreams first, but that didn't work. I was asking myself very often at day time if I was in the astral ore not.. I jumped ore puled my finger too test.. so I dit the same in my dream... Haha.. but as I askt the question I was gust walking long in my dream without anything happened.....  When It almost happened a few day's ago it was so UN expected that t I was scared.  The vibes were so high... so strong dat I could not feel anything else but those vibes.... But when I am treeing by my self, And I get those... I gust see A big ugly wolf... someone can understand this.. course sometimes I feel like I am joking myself without noticing.....

For me, the vibrations feel like being electrocuted intensely, but without pain. It's never hurt (However is has frightened the living bejeezus out of me). I would say the most uncomfortable thing is the pounding heart sensation. The first time I felt that was about 2 years ago and I thought my heart was going to explode in my chest. It's only in the past week that I'm starting to realize that it's not my heart. And I'm beginning to grow accustom to it and even enjoy it. Now it's more like "here we go!..." instead of "Oh God, no". I'd really like these sensations to become second nature and use them as a tool to OBE.

David Warner

Stookie,

Never a less - vibes suck period! Yes, I know the saying
"No pain, No Gain".

I've had at times focused on my heart chakra when the vibes were lite and I could hear it pitter patter like a Bee would make a buzz vibration sound. Now, that was cool and fun....

I think I got off easy! ;)  My vibes were very gentle, as was my heart chakra's beating.

In the past, like when I was a child, I occasionally woke up feeling like I'd been stricken by lightning, sometimes, having dreamt just before that I had been stricken.  I've always had a morbid fear of lightning... maybe caused by vibes! :o

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but, I have not yet managed to exit the body, but I can feel the vibrations, I'm literally about to explode..but I can't seem to get out from there...how do I finally get out?

MisterJingo

Have you attempted to 'roll out'? When I do this it feels that my physical body is rolling and then falls off the bed. I sometimes worry that I have actually fallen out of bed. Usually at this point my vision is poor or none existent, so I start to make my way by touch away from my body. After a few steps vision usually kicks in.
I've had little success with 'pulling' techniques, but great success with swinging techniques.

I'm not sure others would agree, but I've felt a few different sorts of vibrations during my history of going OBE. Some seem conducive to actually achieving a projection; others seem to be a dead end. By that I mean they don't feel the same as the electrical type vibrations I get on a successful projection, they seem slower and 'thicker'. And I have not been able to project from them. I figured they were just either a greater awareness of the energy body, or a desired induced vibrational state. I.e. I am after a vibration state, so I think I feel one.

David Warner

MJ,

I roll out all the time and have no problems. Yes, I agree it can be a little tricky on the senses and emotions what world you are in at the time.. but I've always been successful to project w/o any mishaps.

Sometimes I have the feeling, that I am gonna roll out. But I had a few time's as a child that I was in a dream, Rollin of a mountain ore gust Rollin very fast. I was never be able to stop this, so when I get a Rollin feeling those day's, i stop it without thinking... Seems I have a lot of practice to do....:S

Hannah b

my 2 cents....
I had tons of OBE but never a single vibration.... :occasion18:

Hi VoS. I am usually always successful with the roll out technique. What I was getting at in my post, is that I have noticed during trance something which might be mistaken for vibrations by someone attempting to project. It's more like a fluctuation, but could be mistaken for 'the vibrations' by someone who has no experience with them. So they might be attempting to 'roll out' prematurely, and so not being successful.
But like Hanna says below, the vibrations are not necessary to project. When I havent felt vibrations (fading from awarness of my bed to another locale) I'm never sure if I am projecting or experiencing a Wake Initiated Lucid Dream (WILD).

Selski

I'm the same as Hannah.

Except once when I requested the vibes.  Boy, they were something else!  They started at the top of my head and it felt like this - :aargh:

For a while, every time I attempted OBE I would get these crazy, intense vibrations. But not much anymore. When I do, they're not as intense as mentioned at the beginning of the thread. Now almost all of my experiences are phasing-like, no vibrations. But no RTZ either. I wonder if that has something to do with it?

Does anyone consciously project directly from the physical to RTZ and not feel vibrations? Maybe it's simply the method being used.

Mylene

I am getting a bit jealous on you lot..., I tray so hard and not much happen... en you all have don it before.... pff... I hope one day i will make it... though... I had two OBE... both it last three whole seconds..... So... ma by I gust need some more patience ey...
