How do you hit the vibrational state?

As title says.

And I'm having a lot of trouble trying to project. I lay down and relax, but don't know what to think about or focus on when lying there. I get as far as feeling weird sensations, dunno if it's a light trance, but that's it. After those sensations everything ends. Yes I'm a huge newbie and had to include a "help me" request. By the way, what is energy raising? I hear it a lot on these forums.

I also have trouble inducing vibrations sometimes.  Every time I have had vibrations, I dozed off during the trance induction and woke up vibrating.  But not everyone feels vibrations, and it doesn't always feel like vibration but maybe pins and needles or something else.  In Frank Kepple's method for phasing there aren't any sensations, you're here then you're there.

You need to learn to reach a single-minded focus.  The way that worked for me way to focus on the "ringing" sound in my ears, which everyone has you just have to quiet down and listen for it.  One thing I find that really helps is to put in those foam ear plugs.  They make the sound a lot more noticeable.  You could also focus on the blackness behind your eyes and watch for hypnagogic imagery.  A really important part that you may not be aware of is that you can't be too involved.  You need to be "uninterested" in what you're doing.  When you use a technique you get to caught up in what you're doing and neglect the whole dissociating from your body part.  So just lay down and act like you're going to sleep and listen to the ringing in your ears.

Energy work is about raising the level of energy in your body.  You might consider that energy like "life force" or chi, or whatever you want to call it.  You have spiritual/metaphysical energy in your body, some say that's what carries your consciousness when you project.  So if you have more energy available then you would be able to sustain a projection longer and have a more vivid experience.
be awesome.

You don't reach the vibrational state, you perceive vibrations when your conscious awareness moves from one frequency (waking brain) to another (out of body, nonphysical, etc.) and perceive the difference as vibration.  When your energy body or consciousness or whatever you call it entrains to the new frequency you no longer perceive it as different from your sensory apparatus and don't feel it as strongly.
Some people never feel vibrations, but most feel them at first and then later on stop perceiving them.  Yes, the shift happens, but it is no longer traumatic and observable.
So, the way to reach projection state is to stay awake when your body is falling asleep, that way you'll perceive the shift, and go from there.  But you don't affect the vibrations, you are the one who is shifting, not your surroundings.

I often wake up in the vibrationstate after lucid dreams, never really tried to enter it manually.

How do you get to the vibrations you ask? With lots of practice. You can't expect to get to it overnight, but some people do get lucky and get there within the first few attempts. Some say that they go away after a good amount of obe's. I don't know that it's true, certainly not for me anyway. I still hit the vibrations and I have had a hell of a lot of obe's. If anything it seems the vibrations are more intense then they originally were at the beginning, the difference is I'm used to them and have come to kind of enjoy it. To me they seem to have become the doorway to the obe state. So each time I attempt a projection my aim is to hit the vibrations, once I do it's as easy as done. It has become also significantly easier to hit the vibrations.

The only time I fail to project with full vibrations is when it happens too early. Sometimes the minute I lay down (literally) the vibrations will sweep in because relaxing to me (as long as I dont have a cold or something else) is like hitting a switch now. So when they hit early like that there is no where to go from there for me because my body hasn't even begun to sleep. One thing you can do to practice, esp relaxation is anytime you have a few free moments (even at work) you sit and quiet your mind. It can be eye closed or open doesn't matter. Once you quiet your mind try to get as mentally relaxed as possible. Try to reach out with your awareness and feel around (I dont know how else to explain it), something just clicks and your head will start getting a slight twinge.

Within seconds vibrations rush in (at least for me), even while my eyes are open and Im physically tense. I can be watching a movie even if I start to space out, bam they hit me. A lot of people say they don't get them but can project anyway. I don't know about them or if they are just missing the vibrations, but I can only speak for myself here and the vibrations have been there since before I got into projection. It has been 8 years or so since the first vibrations I consciously felt during meditation, and they are as strong (if not stronger) than ever. With practice I am sure only you will be able to know what kind precursors are unique to you regarding what signs to watch out for to let you know you are on the way to an obe.

Dear eyyoshi,

as mentioned before, focus will catapult you into the trance state or brainwave pattern that is necessary for succesful exit.
I personally recommend initially focusing on the spot between the eyebrows, and as one goes deeper, letting the focus become more and more effortless until there is no more physical point of reference required to maintain the focus. It is however very important that the focus be maintained, otherwise distractions or (day)dreaming will takeover.
Imagine you are hundreds of unorganized, stray power cables, and as you sit there, trying to go into trance, you take the cables and turn them into one, big strand that is your directed energy flow free from external intrusions.
