Projecting into lower dimensions?

Hi All

I've been playing off and on with having an OBE for a week or so, and I believe I possibly just had one this morning. I vaguely recall having a few "accidentally" as a child, but now at 20 I've decided to work on consciously instigating them myself. Here's the issue in two parts:

(1) This morning around 12 AM ish, I started to drift off to sleep not necessarily having the intention of trying to have an OBE. Anyway, some very bizarre series of events started to follow... I began to have a DREAM that I was falling asleep and trying to astral project! I was not lucid, in that I was not aware that I was dreaming, however I did feel like the dream was real while I was in it obviously. In this dream, my awareness was inside my own mind (I was laying in the same spot on my bed where I really fell asleep) and I was feeling myself fall asleep while thinking of various memories. My eyes were closed and I felt myself drifting off more and more, as I focused on astral projecting and where I was going to travel to. Finally, I felt my legs (which were in a bent upright position) slowly slump down and began to feel a rush of positive energy and see a small white light flash beneath my eyelids. I felt myself sitting upright but I did not open my eyes. I instead sat there for a few moments, and only after opening, did I notice myself indeed sitting up on my bed inside my room. I tried to turn on the light, and after it failed to turn on, I immediately turned my attention to the ceiling. I did not know where I wanted to go, but I summoned all my energy and muttered "up" while thrusting my fist into the air. I felt myself getting ready to fly, when suddenly I was just sucked back into my body almost as if I was pushed. Then I woke up.

[It should be noted, that I know I was dreaming because when I woke up at the end of the "projection" my legs were still in an upright position. They had not actually slumped down, so it must have been a dream or they would not have been upright when I woke up.]

Now, if that's not strange enough, this should really top it off:

(2) I ask if you can project into lower dimensions, because this "projection" was not at all comforting or exciting. First of all, everything in my room was seeming the same except for the clock. I know this is a normal phenomena to have some things out of place. However I will list some (what I believe to be) strange occurrences that leads me to believe that this OBE was maybe a bit different from what others experience

1. I could not move fluidly. Everything was choppy and moved in slow motion.
2. I could not see clearly. I could make out the images, but I could not adjust or see things properly. In addition, I tried to look for my physical body next to me, but did not see it in the darkness.
3.There was just an overwhelming feeling of being uncomfortable/not belonging... I have had PLENTY of lucid dreams before (But not any OBEs that I can actually actively recall) and in the majority of them I have been able to see things clearly/vividly and move normally.

So I'd like to know... WHERE WAS I? Is this a normal OBE? And has anyone else had a similar experience?

Thanks for reading.

You were in the Nonphysical Material Reality.

For someone who was playing off and on with having an OOBE... and had one.. you did well.

Try not to know too much at this moment in time. After more experience you will learn to find certain things on your own steam.

I don't personally hold to the notion of lower or higher astral realms. They seem part and parcel of the same thing... on top of that there are so many increments of low and high it is futile and I would say impossible for us to categorise portions of the whole. It's probably a waste of energy.

Maybe you should have some sort of intent next time. Rather than 'getting out' which you did... you should have some sort of plan on what to do. This should be a personal intent.

There is no such thing as a 'normal' OOBE.. but it is very typical.

I have had a similar experiences and read about similar experiences here on this forum.

Welcome by the way. :)

Hi Rebecca, welcome to the Pulse.
Your description is typical of early attempts, lack of control and poor vision.
Set yourself a safe place local to you and try again aiming to get there. Once you are away from your physical body things clear up and you gain the experience necessary.

Thank you both for the responses and welcomes!

I will continue to try my luck with projecting and retaining control. I do find it very comforting to know that others have had similar experiences and that my lack of vision etc was probably just due to lack of experience and not necessarily "wrong." It's also comforting to know that I most likely did not project into a "lower" astral realm. Now some of that anxiety has cleared up, I think I will focus on intending to simply see clearly, move fluidly, and regain complete composure before trying to travel. Thanks again for the feedback; it is very much appreciated!

Well... I had vision the first time I ever had an experience... and many after. It wasn't until I read about 'vision problems' that it started malfunctioning... go figure.

Hee hee,
That auto-suggestion is a tricky beast at times.
It shows very clearly, anything playing on your mind can also manifest. The main reason why fear has to be addressed at the earliest opportunity when learning this art.
