i always wondered, what made every one interested into APing?

for me, i wanted to talk to my dead neighbor...he was one hell of a man, almost like a 2nd father to me. even though i've only known him a few short years before he had passed on. once he found out i wanted to be a Marine Corps sniper, he took me under his wing and taught me everything he could(he was a Navy Seal sniper during the Vietnam War). Wanted to tell him, thank you. for believing in me and encouraging me, and being there when i needed someone to talk to. and when i finally pass on myself, we will finally get that party we were planning....and of course that i love him.

when i finally get that, i'll be content enough to never need to OBE/AP again.

what about you all?

A quite short and simple answer for me. I am naturally curious about everything in this world and when I started having them spontaneously I wanted to learn how I can help others with these experiences through God (and I still do)
I wandered slowly there
I saw a field where a thousand corpses lie
Angels sang the hymn of the end
About monsters which they fought
Over our world

Impermanence

I was always interested in the 'paranormal' since the age of 10 or so. I didn't have any special talents myself, other then frequent lucid dream at that age. So I read and read until I realize that the subect that interested me most was AP/OBE. I started practicing seriously about three month ago and I managed only about 20 projection so far.

Still, any hand-on experience is good, it make you progress faster  :-).

pretty much the same thing here.

Sisyphus

NDE/OBE when i was a child ( i think i posted about it on here)  Nothing dramatic though!!  was 4 or 5 years old was put under at the dentist. left my body hovered around the ceiling watching the dentist and assistant hovering over me (although i say me it didnt feel like me was down there)
thats about it.  Has been some slighthly unusual stuff over the years (like extremely vivid frightening nightmares and other things)

Well, I'm skeptical of all of this supernatural sort of thing, but instead of having stubborn one-sided beliefs, I instead investigate all sides of the arguments. I'm curious, but my stance as a skeptic has remained unchanged so far.

I had no choice in it. I had unwanted episodes of "awareness in sleep paralysis" ever since I was 5-6 years old-  The projections came from my struggle to live with the SP.

I have a friend that I have been talking to for over 10 years who mentioned astral projection on and off for the entire length of the friendship. I don't know why, but for some reason 2 months ago and listened and decided to give it a try rather than just dismissing it.

I tried it, it worked, it blew my mind and I am now hooked for life. Not only did my life open up to the world of astral projection, but I am now involved in Reiki healing and Buddhist study and meditation.

I found Astral Projection by chance and didn't really believe that it was possible. I always thought "what if..." which led to me attempting a few times without success. Months passed and late one night I tried and succeeded but the OBE lasted for only around 5-10 seconds. Although it was short, I was really excited that I proved to myself that everything that I read was true and...Then, I began using this ability that I had developed as a means to escape the pain I had/have and to see if I can find answers to problems that I had/have on the Physical Plane.

It automatically/accidentally used to happen to me when I was a little kid (weak heart), so I needed to get control of it.

When i was younger i began to doubt christianity and the teachings of faith and whatever. naturally as a teenager i went to an extreme and began to call myself a satanist. im still unsure of my religous belief. i decided i dont really care. in these times i discovered meditation. i learned to enter trance state and then i joined a few forums and from there i found astral projection and its been part of me ever since.

Heard about it from reading about a band called "maudlin of the Well". They apparently used astral projection to bring back music with them. The song in the link that I posted below was claimed by them to have been composed entirely during astral projection. I really enjoyed a lot of their music, so I got interested in how they did it. At the time I was really into playing guitar and making music and I wanted to do the same.

On a side note, I will mention that a good number of their songs have a death metal aspect to them. I was quite surprised when I was listening to one of their albums and started hearing random screaming and other stuff like that going on.

They reformed into a new band called Kayo Dot in 2003. Not sure if astral projection is still a major influence for them, but judging by how it sounds, I would guess that they still use astral projection to make music. Definitely cool stuff. They have their entire new album online at http://www.bluelambencydownward.com . Check it out to see what I'm talking about.

I'm sure i posted this somewhere before. I went to bed one night, and got an extreme sense of vertigo after I layed down, i then had a spontaneous and unwanted out of body experience. i flew out my window toward the cold pavement below, and didn't know I was out of body. ever since then i have become fascinated with the idea of oobe, and want to use it for spiritual development. but besides that its a sense of adventure that got me into it. the entire world has been mapped and there's nothing new to discover here on the physical. the astral opens up a whole new level. I want to feel what Columbus felt when he stepped foot on the new world.

Greetings!  I'm relatively new to all this, and have started researching, including both of William Buhlman's works on the subject.  I've always been interested in this and related phenomenae, but have been trying to break through whatever barriers I have to engage in this.  I've tried Lucid Dreaming, but have had relatively little success (though some success nonetheless).

I decided to move onto OBEs and have had some more, including one successful on purpose projection, which I will talk about later.  Since then, I've been able to summon up the vibration, but haven't yet successfully projected again.  But I'm still trying.

There is a particular ritual that William Buhlman recommended as OBE prep that I seem to be able to do with ease, but so far, haven't been able to project again.

But I will continue, as I am certain this is very real, and my one projection so far was amazing (despite what was experience in itself was quite mundane, which in itself was part of what was so convincing).

Hello all....for me I was reading about " gog and magog" that led me to some 2012 websites and then on to the AP website. I have had some strange things over the years. Like once a spirit screamed at me to wake up, that was really funny!, and on several occasions a good friend of mine came to me in my dreams after he passed on. Well I started all this in Feb. I have had the vibrations but no OBE as of yet, but I will keep trying.

After having the first one spontaneous, I decided I needed more. It's like a drug.  :-D

when i was about 4 or 5 i would encounter in my dreams several relatives, friends,  my pastor, usually complaining about some sort of pain theyre experiencing at that moment or about their death to come. and almost immediately after the dream, they would pass away. i dont remember the dreams, my parents told me about it years later. but that definitely sparked my interest for lucid dreams, and from there started reading about and eventually practicing AP. still trying to figure out the whole pre-death warnings deal. if anyone has any info or advice on this subject, please share! ty

To be honest, it came from my fascination of the new Mastodon album, Crack the Skye.
It's just such a great story.

But now that I've read deeply into all this, it's so phenomenal.

I've yet to Project.
And I don't even know if I'm getting to Monroe's F3 right.
But someday..

What got me into it was accidentally having vibrations, separating and falling through the floor when I didn't even know what an oobe was. Now that I know it's possible, I want to control it myself and perhaps find some way to help people.

Astral316

Reading about astral projection on a 'mysterious phenomena' forum and linking it to my early adolescence when I suffered from pre-projection sleep paralysis. I didn't know anything on the subject at the time... didn't think it was normal but didn't know how to describe it to my parents as anything more than bad dreams where I was fully aware. The vibrations would persist and not let me enter the sleep state... out of fear I'd wake myself and stay up for the rest of the night. It went away for many years and was replaced with a more traditional form of sleep paralysis until I stumbled across this subject. Through research and meditation I was able to reacquaint with and conquer my childhood fears associated with the vibrations and have learned to welcome them with a certain level of excitement.

Something similar to Astral316, reading about AP on various forums a few years back and remembering two particular instances of when I was a child, one of them which really stopped making me feeling guilty only after reading about it. The 'nasty' episode was when as a small child, I was quite ill and I remember waking up and going to the bathroom. I went back to the bed to sleep, only to wake up realising that I actually wetted the bed. My mom was understanding, told me that I was sick and changed the bed and made me feel comfortable, but still, I was feeling sort of guilty and not understanding what happened until years ago I came into contact with AP, which explained some things for me.

The second case was when as a teen, I woke up extremely thirsty. I extended my hand to take that glass of water, and started drinking, only to wake up in bed, with no glass of water next to me, and of course, my real hand was nowhere extended.
Once I remembered these episodes, I somehow instantly believed that AP is real, and ever since I'm trying to recreate that feeling of being out of my body (of course, without the nasty after-effects of a wet bed  )

Btw, I don't want to count the times I had to make a reality check over my early years when I was in the bathroom that I'm actually awake and am not just 'out of my body'  :-D

I heard a lot of good things about meditation, like you could go so deep to shut out the outside world amongst other things. At that point I never even heard about astral projection/obe's. I picked up books on meditation and practiced twice a day 30 minutes at a time. At first I didnt really notice anything besides getting relaxed...etc. After a few weeks of this I started getting a constant vibrating/buzzing feeling in my head that would last the rest of the day it would go nonstop all day like my brain was bouncing around. Well after a week or more of that out of nowhere during on of my meditation periods I seen this really nice ocean scene waves crashing onto a beach...etc.

I knew I was not dreaming it was like I was seeing a distant place while not really being there. It kind of startled me at the same time. This continued though, until this one time I got really deep. (Note: during my meditation I sat straight up not leaning on anything, as to prevent me from falling asleep) I started to get the vibrations in my head like usual I got deeper and deeper and before I knew it I was literally standing in the middle of someones home. I could hear rain just crashing on the roof. I looked straight ahead at the windows I could see it was dreary/yellowish outside and could see the rain just streaming down the windows. I felt completely physical too. I could move turn my head, walk around...etc. I seen this woman pacing about the house I ran in front of her and she walked right by me, as if she could not see me. I shouted and did everything I could. It was really confusing I mean one minute Im sitting up in a chair, the next standing in someone's home. I had no idea what was going on, all I knew is it was not a dream, I was not asleep, and I could think normally, rationally, analytically...etc.

It freaked me out so much I snapped out of it, still sitting straight up on my chair. I didnt meditate for about a week after that experience lol. I got curious as to what the hell happened so I got online and searched key words that happened before the experience. So I searched vibration and buzzing and sure enough stumbled upon some websites talking about out of body experiences and astral projection. Picked up as many books I could on the subject, even out of print ones I had to order specially. I studied it for years after that, practiced daily and here I am today about 7 or 8 years later. After practicing so long I can project almost every attempt as long as I can set aside time to do so. If I dont and by the end of the day Im exhausted it doesnt work out as I just fall asleep. It's funny though, I knew out of body experiences were real before I even knew what they were called.

I got caught stealing. Wasn't able to leave my room for about a month. Looked up time travel and came across some AP videos on youtube
I couldn't believe that people could actually do this and I needed to do it myself. I picked up 2 of robert monroes books and since I had nothing better to do I would take like 2 or 3 naps a day and try to get oob.

I never succeded during that month, but a month later I had a spontaneous obe and it was the greatest thing ever lol. Been hooked on it ever since and also for spiritual growth

started reading about religion, beliefs and yoga.
AP seemed so ridiculous for me and I had the curiosity of searching about it to see "how dumb and crazy some people can be".It seemed such a stupid thing at that time but I was so bored that I just tried.I was lucky to experience a deep and shoking trance/sleep paralysis/energy movement on my 3rd try and then I knew that this stuff, even if it defied common sense, logic and my entire beliefs, was real.
Even now I'm amazed on how the circumstances were formed for me so that I would get in to this whole AP thing.
