Hi Tom I'll answer your guestions based on what I experience..
If one closes the astral eyes during protection? I guess all would go black. I don't think I've closed them on purpose, I'm wide eyed and bushy tailed when having a OBE.
looks at one point for a lenghty period of time? Does one awake?
I don't wake up, infact it seems to have the opposite effect. It helps things become clearer. Now when you say lengthy, I'm not quite sure how long you mean, but I'm talking a few seconds to almost a minute and actually that seems like a long time to me, when in the astral. [:P]
looks at ones own hands? Do they melt? I look at my hands to help me not be pulled back to my physical, they have never melted but they have stretched out really long..hehe
Do Numbers mutate?
Seems to be the case for me, the darn things won't stay the original number.
Trying to see if LD and OBE have differences....... I had a dream a few months ago, where I was in a library looking up stuff on Aliens..[:P] A guy started moaning behind me and to my left. I looked at him and he was clutching his stomach. I got up and before I could help him another guy showed up, I could feel myself wanting to wake up so I looked at my hands, but it wasn't working. So I looked at the second guy and said, "we are dreaming, but I'm waking up, lets look into each others eyes, that should help" but alas it didn't work. I think I tried to jump and fly as well and it didn't work..can't remember all the details been so long and oops, I didn't take the time to write it in my journal.[:I]
I ended up waking up and could not figure out why I was lucid yet couldn't turn it into a OBE. I guess I was dreaming about being lucid, which sucks..[:(] I don't think there are too many differences. Heck, my dreams are more interesting than some OBE's that I've had..[:D]
Nay
-looks at one point for a lenghty period of time? Does one awake?
depends on why you are looking at one point for a lengthy period. if your looking at a point thinking that it ill wake you up it could, but you can use looking at a point for a time to help root you in the astral if that is your intention too.
-looks at ones own hands? Do they melt?
yea kind of fade away in the astral/rtz but dont in a lucid dream.
-Do Numbers mutate?
i havnt looked at numbers but words i have. words in lucid can change around especially if you turn away and then look at the same words.
in rtz words will stay the same but for some reason i have to concentrate a lot to read them. then again i have to concentrate a lot to do anything in the rtz.
I never look at my hands, I don't know why.
For me, in AP, if I look away, things change, but as long as I focus on them they stay fixed. In fact I can change things if I really want to, but there's a period of fuzziness as things re-adjust, kind of like changing a TV channel.
Thanks for the replies!

LOL

Interessting, cause in LD I wake up if I stare more then a couple of seconds at one thing

Like in LD........
"Seems to be the case for me, the darn things won't stay the original number."
Same as LD
"yea kind of fade away in the astral/rtz but dont in a lucid dream."
Mine always fade in LD when I look at them.

Seems like OBE's are special dreams then....
From me one experience (I have had only 4 OBE's so far) I can't really see a difference between an LD and a OBE, which kind of frustrates me.

Assuming it is the same for everyone as it is for me(?) - In lucid dreams you have no real sense of identity, no sense of real-life concerns. I don't know who I am in a lucid dream, all I know is I am dreaming and within reason I can do what I want. But that lucid world, just because I know it is a dream doesn't mean I know what lay outside that dream world. To me at the time it is all I know of existence.
In an OBE, I know who I really am, Somewhere inside me I am aware that I have to take the dog for a walk later and pay the gas bill. I am a guy who was awake in the real world, and now I am awake out of my body. "Wide eyed and bushy tailed" sums it up nicely.
An other guy told me that the dream world is more consistent then the OBE-World. Meaning that things that happen fit better into the context of the dream. Does anyone have similiar experiences?
-looks at ones own hands? Do they melt?
No. They feel as solid as they do here, unless u dont want them to.
-Do Numbers mutate?
I didnt stay long enough to see if they mutate, but I saw a random 4 digit number that I had never seen, exactly as it was on the physical computer screen, 2 times out of 3, and the third I was right except I saw a 1 when there was a 7. I usually dont pay attention to numbers. Those were my tests for the reality of OBE. About a 1 in 100000000000 chance I guessed as correctly as I did.
But some things do change. I guess a number could too.
