Aslan

Hello everybody!

I am a new user, I registered yesterday but I did not have the time to introduce myself and my problem then, so here we go now!

Since early age (7 year old) I new/hoped that people could use their brain more than we actually do. I often stared at an object hoping I could move it with my thoughts and so on but I never succeeded.

This is how I got introduced to AP. One time about 2 years ago I had an unintensional OBE or Lucid dream, I was dreaming that I was this person infront of a castle talking to a knight, at that time I realized that I was dreaming and I said "I want to feel love" I dont know why I actually said that.  Anyway, I think I saw purple smoke appear above my head and suddenly the whole thing switched, I could se myself in space with closed eyes and crossed arms above my chest infront of a large fireglobe, perhaps the sun.

I could hear it (the sun), it was an intense sound that I cannot really describe to you in words. Try to imagine how the sun sounds; "Powerful", I could also feel the heat on my back, it was not burning me since I was not that close but I could feel the heat. The whole experience was so overwhelming that it frightened me, so I thought of my body and then about 3 seconds after that I felt myself be in in my body in a paralytic state and then a few seconds after that I could move again and woke up.

After that experience I started looking on the internet if other people have had the same experince and I found out about OBE's and AP. I have tried periodically after that time to induce and OBE both through meditation and through sleep without success.

Once while meditating I activated one of my chakras, the one close to the heart or the one by the solar plexus I am not sure. I could feel it and felt and heard it buzzing for a few seconds, ofcourse I got to excited and so it stopped.

To the problem now. Basically I am stuck! For a while now I am making no progress at all. When I try guided meditation I feel that the voices of the talker are distracting me and act against what is natural to me. On the other hand without the guided meditation I dont really know what to do. When I go to bed trying to keep my mind focused I dont really get any sleep, I am half asleep and still my mind wonders off to other things like cars and such.

What should I do????

Please help!

Something I do when I meditate is write what I think is significant- I have found that it tends to reduce the chatter and things start to make sense.

Hi Aslan (nice name!)

Rather than try guided meditation, you could meditate and create your own scenario.  It's a bit like daydreaming, but you remain focused and in control at first.  If you find your mind wandering, gently lead it back.  It's a 'technique' that I've found helpful - I've learned a lot using it.

I started a thread in Astral Consciousness called "Meditation Experience" which has a lot more detail and information about it.  Here's the link if you are interested:

Whatever you decide to do - good luck!

I will try that :) A question though:

Does/Can AP or other stange things happen while practicing these technics or does the mind need to be empty before anything happens?

Thanks for all replies :)

It can really happen any time during these experiences.  I have had myself AP in every part of my meditation cycle from beginning to end.

Expect the unexpected.  Anything can happen.  And don't expect anything to happen as well.  [I've just read that back and it's very elusive, isn't it?   ]

The best mental state to be in, in my opinion, is one where you are totally enjoying the moment you are in; not thinking about where you should be; what might happen, and whether you are doing it right etc. etc.

Just relax and drift into a focused daydream.  You'll fall asleep most of time, until you get used to it - but what's the harm in falling asleep?  Sleeping is great for the body, and you never know, you might have an amazing dream, or even a lucid one.

Good luck!
